Yes it serves the purpose of ignition key. You can ON(The orange LCD light comes on) and OFF(The orange LCD light goes off) using the given remote itself but the key position remains same in off position. Yes you are right the handle is unlocked. If someone puts the key when it is been locked by its remote, it starts giving siren sound and it stops only when the key is been taken back. Good Safety bro

It's completely keyless. The remote comes as a keychain. I carry the key all the time with my remote. But it's completely keyless. You can check the pics which i've posted earlier for more information. Check the pics especially the pics of digital console. You can find it runs without the key.

Yes you can start and stop the engine using that remote itself without the key. It works for more than 100 feets. I'm not too sure how many distance it works. But i am sure it works 100 feet. I checked it in 100 feet road in coimbatore. But make sure your vehicle is parked in neutral before using that. The red color switch should be on. Petrol knob should be on or in res. Make sure everything is correct, then start the bike using the remote. As i told earlier, you can control the remote start and stop using an additional ON/OFF switch. I've fixed it under my seat. If you want i can post few pics on that.

In my home, in nights, instead of using remote lock, i lock my handle for safety and to preserve my battery. In nights the remote lock will be off. So it wont use the battery all the night. Not only in nights, i wont use it whenever i parked my bike for more than 3-4 hours. Although it's not that important, i prefer doing that to save more battery. Eg: In movie theaters i wont use it because i surely know it will take 3 hours for me to come back. And not only that whenever others comes to park their bike, if they touch it, it gives sound unnecessarily. Complete waste of battery. So in that case i prefer side locks the best.

If you want you can do both locks(Side lock as well as remote locks). And in the morning, i put the key and unlock the handle. The first 2/3 starts will be kick start. Then i'll start using my remote. Hope these information useful . Anymore queries regarding this?

They give as like that, speed on odo(eg 70kmph) and true speed(62kmph) ,almost for all bikes, whether digital or analog....Bcos they carry some expensive instrument to connect with bike or car and measure the true speed and write in the magazine..That means not odometer is fault..hope u understand
I used to read overdrive till last november. After that got busy with work and never bought it. But I'll like to have a look at it. Did you get to look at the post by sivakumar about the speed at 7.5Krpm??

      wheel speed x wheel dia(m) x pi(3.14)/60 = bike speed in m/s

bike speed (m/s) x 18/5 = bike speed in kmph

i didnt consider clutch slip as a factor as it involves only in rapid acceleration.

      let us take 7500rpm

      wheel speed = 7500/(3.476 x 0.833 x 2.929)
      = 884.336rpm

      bike speed(m/s) = 884.336 x 0.62(measured by a foot scale) x 3.14/60
      = 28.694m/s

      bike speed(km/hr) = 28.694 x 18/5
      = 103.29km/hr

in this calculation i have reduced 2cm(original 64cm) in wheel dia due to inflation by bike's weight.
Man!! are you an automobile Engg or what ??? Can any one reply to this

But my bike is valued for Rs.58020 only. The total insurance amount paid is Rs. 1351. This includes gross premium (Rs. 1225) + service tax (Rs. 126) + stamp duty (Rs. 5) = total (Rs. 1351). Hope this information is useful.
Thanx for the clarification. My bike was valued at Rs.58006 and the insurance quoted by the dealer was Rs.1260 (IFFICO-TOKIO). I took insurance from "The New India Assurance company" where i already had an insurance for my old ride. They gave me a discount by including the no claim bonus % which i had accrued over the years with my old bike. My premium was Rs.722 + service tax Rs.75, in total i spent abt Rs.800.

Good.. BTW from where did you get all the gear ratios value from ? Are those values given by Suzuki? or did you calculate yourself ?? If so how??

                            Hi Everybody

                            Iam Dhiwakar from chennai.

I have been reading xbhp GS150 posts for the last one month.

as things go by my wife was also impressed about the looks of the bike and was hellbent on buying this... Honouring the judegement of the supreme court finally i bought my black GS150 from Chennai (ABT) last week. The sales guy Mr. Ramkumar was courteous and everything was fine till i took delivery.

Actually i feel like crying out loud after buying this bike

While the bike feels comfortable for my 95 kgs 6ft frame, other things leave a lot to be desired

                            1. The downshifting of gear is a great headache. When you stop suddenly in 6th gear due to emergency, shifting the gers down becomes a great headache.. The gears do not shift down easily and the whole world comes to know that iam downshifting...

                            2. The bike has to be called GS 150(vibrato)R.. the vibrations are felt at your crotch at 2.5k rpm, when you sit close to the tank.. heavenly though!!!

                            3. idle vibrations are felt at the footpegs at 1.75k rpm.. the bike when starting early morning is at 1.25k rpm and ride it for 5 minutes and stop at signal, the idling is at 1.75k rpm

                            4. The vibrations are felt at 2.5 krpm and 3.5k rpm is universal problem

                            5. the odo shows 523 kms till date and i have crossed 4.5 k rm only once , and brought back below that once i noticed the blinker

6.The bike has petrol choking problem.. when i took the bike to Tiruttani (80 kms from chennai) the bike around 55 kmph started giving choking problems as if there was no petrol.. i was well within limits and to cover a distance of 80 kms took approx 3 hours (20 kms city and 60 km highway riding)

                            7. mileage is at 42 kms/litre.. i refilled at TVS petrol bunk in chennai which is the benchmark for quality and quantity in chennai

8.As reported by others the headlight is pathetic.

                            9. shock absorbers in the rear give tiktik sound when going through bumps...maybe due to my weight the shockers are working over time

                            10. Chain slack is already there..

                            11. Also as somebody pointed out the weld quality is bad with lumps of metal at the welds and there is a hole also on the downtube..

My 2002 victor GL which had run approx 1.3 lakhs kilometer was far better than this..no gearshift problems.. super headlights and good ride comfort.. i ahd changed the shock absorbers and clutch plate(first time since 2002) 1 year back. Rear tyre was changed twice and the machine was running with OE tyres in the front(dont know why it has not worn out still) and could have carried on well for atleast another 5000 kms...

i traded my victor for this GS150(vibrato)R ...

somebody tell me whether this is the same with all GS150(Vibrato)R's.

Now, i am not against suzuki .. it is my real experience iam telling you....

                              1. I dunno how you shift in victor... you need to simultaneously shift gears as the vehicle is slowing down. also this is new bike needs time to set.

                              2. this is new we heard about 3.5k resonance. just meet service guys.

                              3. reduce the idling speed... when the engine is hot set to 1400rpm, you wont get any vibrations.

                              4. 3.5k is unique... but it dies as the time passes.

                              6. few people got same choking problem... hope they will reply to this point.

                              7. trust BP or shell. there is nothing to worry as your bike is in run in period it will give good mileage after two services.

                              8. still under discussion

                              9.check with service guys.

                              10. ya its born with it.

                              11. there is nothing tow worry about welding problem. hole is on stiffening member, not on downtube.

                                Mr. sivakumar

thanks for your reply... but a hole is a hole whether on stiffening member or downtube.. water might enter and end up in rusting.. is it common for all GS?

Also, during sudden stops downshifting while slowing down is not easy. in my victor stop during an emergency and bring down all the way from 4th.. utterly butterly... but in this GS150(vibrato)R , the whole world comes to know....

regarding idling wil set to 1400 when engine is hot..

hope things settle as times pass by
