Most of the test ride vehicles are abused in many ways. So if you really want to get a feel of the engine smoothness and sound, request a test ride from any friend or acquaintance who has this bike. If properly run-in and maintained, it is a pleasure to ride this bike.Originally posted by abdriver2000 View PostIn today's world, quotes don't matter. Quotas do!

Exactly what vikhyath said.....take a TD of a well maintained bike....
also you are allowed to choose the vehicle before registration is done....if not then screw their case royally.....or you can even mail Suzuki regarding this activity clearly mentioning the dealers name, address and the guy who attended you at showroom..........
Good to hear that you found the bike adequate to your needs....I Have been riding it for past few years now.......and intend to do so for future even if i get an cc upgrade......
regarding spares.....you get them only in SVC and not at any roadside mechanic.....Suzuki guys tell this as they dont want to compromise on the quality of parts.....
but since you live in Mumbai there wont be a problem of servicing and spare parts......

I haven't seen more then a handful of GS150s in the past 2 years. None of my friends own it. This was a brand new test bike since it was not there on 15th Feb. The odo reading was also 23kms. The only problem I noticed was that it was hard to find the neutral gear.Better late by 30 minutes than early by 30 years.

GS150R comes in MRF only.. CEAT is for Slingshots & Access... No idea about Battery..Originally posted by abdriver2000 View PostMost bikes come with MRF tyres, sometimes CEAT. No choice provided. Bike comes with Exide Freedom battery, sometimes AMCO, again no choice.
I'd rode with two people on board(total 3 incl me) on a bumpy road (off road like on roadThe test drive was really nice and built my confidence in the machine. I first tested alone, then with a pillion, the bike pulled really nicely.
).. It easily pulled the weight..It's has got enough pulling power..
Very comfortable seating posture..Power remains the same, but the pickup has changed compared to older model (altered gear ratios).. Yes it's refined than the older models...Seating was very comfortable. The bike comes to life with a nice smooth purr. I am told that the 2012 is not just a cosmetic upgrade. There are engine refinements done. Power has increased from 12.5 to 13.8bhp (Can someone confirm this?) And the FE is further improved by 10%
Yes it's well built like as they did it in SUZUKI FIERO..Overall, a solidly built machine which should last me for a 100k or above like my first bike. Only flipside is that I am told that the spares are not available in the open market and I need to order everything through the service center. I can't imagine myself going there everytime for things like cables or brake shoes.
As far as the sapres are constrained ,yes it's not available in open market.. We've to get through SC's only.. One +ve thing is you'll be getting only genuine spares for your bike..
Regarding cables and brake shoes, my clutch cable had gone cut some 2weeks back., I replaced the cable on the road side mechanic shop, cable that comes for HH P+ like bikes (costed 20rs for the cable and 2rs for the cable nut and 20rs for the labour)..Still running on it..
It's a very good bike with mix of Power, Performance, build quality, mileage and the most important thing is comfort and value for money...
I'm very happy that my investment is worth every penny...

Thanks buddy, is it happening some time soon? I want to take the delivery on 21st of next month, so i need to make up my mind in another week or so. BTW, where did you purchase your bike from? I commute to Powai daily and Andheri on weekends. Maybe we could catch up sometime and share tips.Originally posted by Maestro View PostThen come over when a G2G will be happening...and ride one of our bikes....Better late by 30 minutes than early by 30 years.

It is true that the spare parts of Suzuki’s bikes are not available outside. But we are not replacing parts of this bike frequently.Originally posted by abdriver2000 View PostOnly flipside is that I am told that the spares are not available in the open market and I need to order everything through the service center.
The parts I have changed of my 21’800 kms old bike is the headlight bracket (under warranty), visor nuts because opened it to change the bulb and chain cover nuts as I am opening the cover frequently for lubing the chain.
Replacing the oil and air cleaners, spark plug etc is usual in every bike. All the other parts including the cables and chain and sprocket are not yet replaced.
The maximum power remains the same 13.8 bhp @8500 rpm but the pickup has increased due to the altered gear ratios.
The headlight visor and it nuts are redesigned and as a result, the new GS is completely free from vibration and the fuel tank is with Teflon antirust coating.
And the parts like cables and brake shoes are not being replaced frequently to be bothered about it.
If you are satisfied after the test ride, go for GS. I am sure that you will never repent about it in future.Last edited by punarvasu; 02-18-2012, 10:19 PM.

Thats true about spare parts. We cant get GS150R spare parts in a common automobile shop. We need to get it from suzuki center only. and in riyaz suzuki (mulund), they wont give the spare parts separately. They are not even allowing to put other oil purchased from outside shop. I think, some spares available in babloo motors vashi.Originally posted by abdriver2000 View PostI decided to take a test ride on the GS150 as well as the SZ-R. First headed to Akshay Suzuki at Parel. They had a test ride vehicle. I did not want a customer's vehicle. The dealer Mr. Joshi showed me around and answered a lot of queries. I am told the bike is now available in 7 days after payment instead of the earlier 3 weeks waiting period.
They offer insurance only from New India. I was told that I could take it from elsewhere if I wanted to. He had the white, black and orange models on display. The blue one was missing. Most bikes come with MRF tyres, sometimes CEAT. No choice provided. Bike comes with Exide Freedom battery, sometimes AMCO, again no choice.
I was told they stock the bikes in Malad, but when asked if I could choose my piece, he refused. The test drive was really nice and built my confidence in the machine. I first tested alone, then with a pillion, the bike pulled really nicely. Seating was very comfortable. The bike comes to life with a nice smooth purr. Next stop was Kamla Yamaha. We were not allowed to test ride the SZR, but just look around. But we were certainly not impressed by the Yam after the Suzuki ride. The tank shrouds were touching my knees and the handle bar seemed cramped.
It is now almost certain that I will book the GS150, but I need to clear the scene about the spares. I am a DIY guy and don't want to depend on the dealer even though he promised a turn around time of 1 day for anything. Can some Mumbai guys help me with their ownership experiences?

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the purpose of this mod? I think the electronic indicator has a battery display to show in case the battery is not charging.Originally posted by kripscorp View Post

Who is asking for the permission of the SC to use the oil we prefer? I am using 15W-40 Castrol Power 1 SS oil after the second servicing of my bike. But they have replaced my bikes headlight bracket under warranty without asking anything about the oil filled in the engine.Originally posted by kripscorp View PostThey are not even allowing to put other oil purchased from outside shop.

They wont put the oil themself if it is purchased from outside.....but there is absolutely no restriction for you to use any recommended oil......
@all......
post about all the malpractices happening with the SVC.....will try my best to take the matter with senior authorities at suzuki.....
Parel SVC: refusal to choose the bike from standing lot.
Mulund SVC: refusal to sell spare parts separately (i hope this means if you buy spare parts from them then its the suzuki mechanic who fits them directly on your bike....and they wont sell the parts to me if i just want to buy them and want it to be fitted by myself or local mechanic........please correct me if i am wrong)Last edited by Maestro; 02-18-2012, 11:51 PM.
