Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Well, I can see no harm in getting it checked. Do you feel any wheel imbalance when the bike is running? That's one of the symptoms of a damaged cone set. The age of bike has nothing to do with it, rather the running has. How much have you covered Hornet?Originally posted by Sai Chandra View Post[My Motorcycles]

Some bust it sooner, some bust it later, but in the end everyone busts their cone-sets.Originally posted by Sai Chandra View PostI didn't feel any wheel imbalance, by the way odo reading 13k
With the bike on main stand, see if the handle is moving freely to both sides, just push one end and it should freely slide to the opposite lock and vice versa.
Then grab the base of your fork and wiggle it, if there's wiggle then get it replaced, as simple as that.Motorcycling Experience:

You may take it if you like the service of the authorized svc where you normally go.Originally posted by raaz321 View PostGuys my hornet will be 1 year old this month end , is honda Annual Maintenance Contract is worth taking ? how much it cost, my local dealer said 1050 something like that , but some other service center told me 700 like that ?
I guess it'll be cheaper but I'm not sure.
In Bangalore it is 620 rupees and they were giving some 10% or 20% discount.
If you know a better, reliable local mechanic then you need not go for this annual plan.

1. You have to avail both services at same service center only.
2. 5% in HYD off on parts.
3. 2 waterwash is free but again you have to avail at same center only.
4. No concession on labour charge. Be careful while giving the

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Any suggestions on how often to clean and lube the chain.
It has been just a week or two since I lubed it, the chain has almost become dry and the noise too increased I washed it once in between and must have done some 70-80Kms since lubing it first.
I have observed, the chain noise is more compared to other bikes...wonder why.

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Every 450-500kms, just use diesel and scrub off the dirt with a toothbrush or with a chain cleaner brush if you have one, collect the muck and wipe the chain clean and dry with a waste clothe. Now lube the chain thoroughly... Not too much, nor too less... Spray the lube in both the sidewalls of the chain and not on the middle portion.Originally posted by elviento View PostAny suggestions on how often to clean and lube the chain.

Do not run the bike while cleaning or lubing, might cut your finger by doing do, take precautions while doing so.

Rattling chain in new bike is common. This is also due to protector in sprocket, not due to metal but air gap.Originally posted by elviento View PostAny suggestions on how often to clean and lube the chain.

The lube should last for 400-500Km at least. Probably a new chain socking it.
Which lube you are using.------------------

Although I gave the bike to a local shop for wash as it was all muddy (has been rainy in Bangalore last week) and I guess they washed off the chain too.
Will have to put lube and check again.
Also the rear mud guard is rarely of any use, mud splashes reaches the rear mono shock and it gets all dirty, the whole swing arm gets covered in mud the saree guard too just makes it difficult to clean unless you have a water hose.

That's correct for all naked bikes. If it rains then first external lube will wash it off then small dirt particles goes into chain.Originally posted by elviento View PostI am using Motul C1 and C2 combo.

Better to spay cleaner (I believe Diesel or Kerosene works equally well) and then go for wash. While washing ask them to pressure jet at sprocket it will clean the dirt particle easily.------------------

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
Hi guys I'm planning to get my first bike. I took test ride of 2017 hornet and I very much liked it's comfort and breaking performance but I felt it didn't respond well to the throttle. I've heard people say that 2018 version has solved all the problems that were there in 2017 and has a better pickup? Can anyone share their experience?
Thanks
Ash

Re: Honda CB Hornet 160R Owners Experiences
There is a tiny bit of lack of throttle response in the lower rpms as hornet lacks torque in the lower rpms but it has good pulling power from the mid range and you can comfortably accelerate and overtake vehicles in mid range.Originally posted by Sashwin View PostHi guys I'm planning to get my first bike. But this is not a problem, this is how the engine is.
At times it is sluggish when you pick-up after you just crossed a huge speed breaker or from a slow moving traffic, but it catches up soon.
They have rectified the chain slacking problem that older versions had.
Headlight still isn't the brightest in completely dark situations.
A teeny bit viby, I cant say coz its my new bike, but it seems vibrations should reduce with use. I have found a big difference after first service, engine has become smoother after first service.
Comfortable, I have only done 50kms at a stretch for now, with my limited experience, there is no problem, no pain in the body at the end of the day.
ABS is added value, works very well and adds to your safety. I felt it kick in thrice till now, maybe saved me from a skid and loss of control.
Every bike has something or the other you just have to settle for the problems that dont bother you.
And i think hornet does not have any major drawbacks for mostly a commuter+little bit of casual tourer bike.
