  • Re: Bajaj Dominar 400 Ownership Experience Thread

    Hi guys,

I got relocated to Bangalore recently. I would like to get my dominar from Visakhapatnam to Bangalore. The stay in Bangalore would be for somewhere around 10 months.

How long can I use out of state vehicle in Bangalore?? Some say it is one year and some say is just one month for Bangalore. Do anybody have clear idea on this??

Sorry for posting this here. I know this is off topic but that thread is pretty inactive.

Just got the confirmation from one fellow who has shifted to Bangalore from delhi a short while back, he said the rule has now changed and you can now ride like this till one year as per new rule.
That guy is currently on GQ ride.

        Thanks Ijs..!!!

Wow!! GQ ride.. that is in my bucket list after South Indian Tour though [emoji28]

Is there any document that needs to be carried other than the regular ones. My colleague is suggesting me to carry a copy of judgement to convince the traffic cops that this rule was changed.

Can't seem to get the progressive feedback from the front brake like before and it feels spongy and sudden. Went to the SVC and at first they didn't acknowledge any issue but after I insisted they said the brake pads seem fine.. They will check the brake lines for air and if not that then the master cylinder will have to be changed.

I'm not 100% convinced with the diagnostics of the SVC and since the brakes are a critical component would like to get some feedback from you guys about the issue.
UPDATE: Got my bike back from the SVC. Front brake problem seems to have been solved. They bled the brake line and sanded the pads and disc a bit.

Also I switched to Motull 7100 after 5.7k kms. The old oil had become really black. I don't know how bajaj recommends the 2nd oil change at 10k kms.
The bike would obviously feel smooth after an oil change. Although I found gear shifts to be smoother on motul 7100 and the engine revs up in a refined manner. Guess will know how good motul really is after completing 150-200kms on the new oil but so far so good.

I want to to ask if it's normal to hear the chain slapping sound when you slam just the rear brake?

              Hello guys.

Drained the drain pipe connecting box below rear seat and fuel tank.
This pipe is plugged at the end with plastic cap .I think it is BS4 system .

A thick liquid without any smell comes out of this. Is it normal . Do somebody had drained it before.
I drained it as vapor are not escaping from my fuel tank.

The smoothness most guys tells about the motul is more like a placebo effect imo, as i never felt any diffrence in my engine and gears and the ones running on motul.

And for that chain slapping in rear break, i never felt it. Get the slack adjustment done if the slack more than 30 mm, 20 to 30mm is the recomended slack.
I do feel the chain kat kat at very slow speed while exiting my street and that is normal.

Not to worry. As a matter of fact, all manuals recommend to drain that little tube if one sees liquid inside. It's nothing but blow by sediments along with oil that will get accumulated down the AF box. Draining this would help reduce clutter inside the AF box. It's recommended every 5 to 10k kms if need be, and if one sees an oil filled tube instead of a clear tube it's recommended to drain it.

                    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

It is not connected to AF box.

Drain tubes are connected to either engine or AF box for the most part, so nothing to worry. Removing or draining them periodically can be carried out. Nevertheless, it's not going to affect the performance in any way. It's to make sure excess deposition is drained out. At least from what I see, that thick grey tube can be vented directly from the head nor the AF box, eitherway they serve the same purpose.

                        Cheers!

Looking at the original picture posted , the drain tube is for the EVAP system, which connects the tank to the charcoal canister.

While measuring and adjusting the chain slack does the swing arm need to be unloaded? (by propping up the bike on a jack since the slack reduces when one sits on the bike)

Chain adjustment is usually done while on center stand or paddock stand. The measurements are usually given for unloaded state.
