FS on a new bike? my god. the gear shifts were so clunky, had to literally dig up the gear with my foot for shifting.
False neutrals were so common, engine heat was massive. I was driving so much within 5 RPM and at a much more safer run-in as i was scared of it.
At 550 kms and first service i switched to TVS SS. What a beauty this is. Butter smooth shifts, negligible heat (i travel longer distances that too). Is cheap and vibrations are the same. no difference.
I would say, use the SS till 4k odd KM\\\\\\\'s and switch to Motul
Oh is it? Thanks a lot

Since this thread is Idle and vibe free (unlike our RTR\'s :P ) , here goes.
Went on my first road trip on the new ABS (1.2k Km,2 month old, first service done).

Started at 7, traveled 53kms (25 odd on highway) to a fort called Bhongir near Hyderabad.
Me and a fellow RTR 180 rider, friend, set off on a school boy adventure. Since he is changing tyres soon and his old ones being punctured, we kept at 65-70 max on the road.
Was a windy, misty day strangely. The bike was very wobbly under heavy winds. But the cooling was amazing on the beast compared to the older one.

Basically the highlight being, I did 0-60 in 4.4 and managed 119 at heavy opposite direction winds. felt really good

The more I use it, the more I am becoming a fan of the TVS SS oil. Smooth shifts, really good cooling too.

What\'s the difference in electricals between the old beast and new one?

The old one with AC current can be started without a battery by kicking?
Can the new DC current one be started without batt?

your friend was using the older gen RTR?? please post some pics.

guys I have a problem and need your feedback ASAP.my bike was fine last week until I started hearing some chain noise so took it Triton ASC.First he told me chain lube should be done next he told me sprocket has to changed after 10 min one mechanic told me bore has to be changed because there was no engine oil and there was smoke emanating from the exhaust when the bike was revved to 10K RPM.i myself changed the engine oil at shell and bikes done 2500 kms after oil change at shell. I feel the SVC is trying to cheat me,because the bike performed tip top and I also managed to touch 128 a few weeks back and the bike was vibe free and also no signs of overheating. I have sent a complaint mail to TVS. What could be issue??

prd8r yes the new RTR can be kick started or push started without the battery. Only the ABS version gets full DC set up. pranav_salieri did you check the oil level? Which shell oil did you use as shell ultra has a tendency to evaporate in air cooled engines like RTR. Check for oily residue on the exhaust tip.

yes i did there was oil in the stick.might have lost its viscosity but it was there.now the bike is in the ASC so cant check.the oil which i used was SHELL ADVANCE AX7 Semi synthetic oil.the best oil i have poured in till date..very lerss vibes.

@ Traveller01 - Thanks for the answer. So, going further, the ABS version cannot start without a battery? As in, if the battery is low, one cannot use the electric starter. So, kicking will start it right?
Because old RD350s and Bullets cannot start even with kicker if battery is low.

Didnt Knew that. But my Grandpa's(maternal) Rajdoot still starts within 2-3 Kicks. Its running without a battery since last 4 years.
Actually I find no reason how would battery affect starter.

LOL. Yeah. I can believe that. One of my pal's old RX100 is also running without battery. Thing is, they are AC current bikes I guess
But DC current ones need to have topped up battery or there is no spark I've been told.
Hope someone clears the doubt of DC version Apache.

Faced Similar situation twice. Then realized, its the Duplicate quality Engine Oil. Both the times it was Castrol Power1. I used other brands, things were normal. But in your case, the Grade might be the culprit.
I advice you to switch to recommended grade oil and keep an eye every 1000 Kms or so. If the problem persists, do get engine recarb done.

Recommended grade for rtr is W40.. and shell ax7 10w40 is the best oil for rtr according to me.
