RTR has the most notchy gear box. False neutral and gear slippages are common during initial ownership period. You'll get used to it. changing to semi-synthetic engine oil also helps.

and well i am noob in biking now (technically), so are u asking me to change oil by latest or you are saying this to be done at first Servicing ?

And can it be done my ma-self ?

If you are using stock(first) brake pads for 12k kms, buddy your disc plate needs replacement for sure
My understanding is Petal structure as Disc plates and Disc pads, which hug them on braking. And, yes, i thot so too.. These tiny disc pads are to be changed now. but, i was also wondering about those Petal type plates, which have shown up circular crates, which be believe is the culprit in loss of effective braking.. What do u think?

          • Hey guys I need one clarification regarding the SPEED SENSOR part in Apache 160cc...My bike is 18 months old & recently the speed sensor went kaput...During my 7th service it was changed by the SVC and I shelled out 400+ for the same....Is this covered under warranty?? When I called TVS customer care they said they have no idea on which part is covered under warranty..Crap Guys ...then for what the heck they are running this service ....Can anyone confirm on this before I blast them for not informing me on the same...Actually it is from kantu (xbhp member) I came to know that it is covered under warranty...I did like to know if anyone else also has faced the same issue & changed under warranty?? Because SVC guys will fool around saying it is not covered. So I need some kind of proof or docs where the parts covered under warranty are mentioned...

Give him a slap on this line, what with doing 100+kmph with false neutrals

If the metal disc plate (petal structure) is scratched , and if you check it thoroughly, you will notice it will not be smooth, due to which the brake pads won't be able to hold it, thus effecting braking.
As I asked have you not changed the brake pads in these 12k kms??

Again turning for help this time about "ABS"

When i turn on my bike "ABS Indicator Starts blinking" if i press ABS switch for 3-5 Seconds it goes Stable... now my question is

Does it mean ABS is "ON" When LED Is Stable (Orange/Yellow Color) ?

if I didnt press switch after few minutes of driving it automatically goes off, what does that Mean ?

                Please tell me :-)

Inshort i want guideline to know how to switch ON ABS & how to test if ABS is working or not :/

                  Regarding the ABS indicator:
                  • When you switch on, the ABS light blinks continuously i.e self check is being done.
                  • It blinks untill you cross 10Km speed and switches off after 10Km.
                  • If the ABS light glows ON (i.e not blinking), then it means your ABS is OFF. Think of this as a fault indicator: if it is ON continuously, then ABS is NOT working.

If for any reason, you want to turn OFF ABS, press ABS switch for 5sec- ABS turns OFF and the light glows continuously.

In What case we shud concider it on?
I got this Post while searching for ABS

But one Question here, doenst it should glow when ABS is on? And this two points contracting to each other ...

If the ABS light glows ON (i.e not blinking), then it means your ABS is OFF.

I agree its quite confusing while u r new to this feature. The indicator works inverted against what generally we expect. Thanks to TVS for confusing us.

The indicator inside the Tacho console will constantly be turned ON while the ABS is turned OFF. It reminds us to turn it ON as we have already paid for tit...

If the ABS is turned ON in the bike, then the Indicator would be blinking until we touch 10kmph & turns OFF, making us to forget about ABS. . Hope is pretty clear...

Nope.. I havent changed it yet.. though i had changed it with my previously owned 160 at 6k and at 8k on my 180(wihtout ABS) respectively. I was very optimal with Discs on this ABS and was also expecting pads to last longer on the verge of equipped with ABS. It has come fine and smooth till now. But, am afraid if i've screwed the plates by creating crates on it...

And yes.. as u said, it isnt smooth anymore.. It has formed a thin crate around it..

I own the ABS myself......so I can tell you without a doubt the following things

                          1. ABS is on by default on the bike. You can't change it , even if you switch it off and also switch off the bike, the next time the bike starts, it's ON.

                          2. ABS can be switched ON/OFF only when the bike is stationery, in the manual they say it's a safety thing.

                          3. The ABS light on the console is a warning light for example when we apply hand brake in cars or don't put on seat belt in certain cars, on the console it shows a warning to indicate it. It's the same concept here. It indicates/warns that the ABS is off when it is glowing.

4.Now the thing were it flickers or goes on and off continuously when we start the bike, when I asked the SVC guys they said it was the ABS system checking itself. It goes off only when the bike attains a speed of around 10 kmph. It will stay like that as long as we start the bike and keep it stationery.

Basically ABS is on when the light goes off and is off when the light glows.

Hope you understood .....Njoy the bike bro!!!! Cheers!!!

                            very weel explained
and you can check ABS is porperly working by braking hard
if u feel the brake lever is comming back then its ok
if u skid u need to check the ABS

and @vrags in case of abs disk pads are worn out faster than any other RTR
that might be the reason for those disk petal worn out thing

thanks bro....but you see he should have to try it on soil...not tarred roads.....coz that will need harsh braking on tarred roads for our bikes to skid.........and for a person who just bought it....i won't advise it.....you'll have to get a feel of the abs in action......like the lever vibrating in our hand.....it may even shock the first time users .....but i got to says...hands down.....even on gravel i can brake without tension....even mud....absolutely gem of a tech on the bike
