i have lately realised wen i cross speeds above 100 my rear tyre starts wobbling nd the bike shakes uncontrollably..
guys pls help me out as in what d reason might be...
i dont trust d tvs service centres any more so wont take the bike there as they dont seem to be very good at their work nd charge a lot too!!
hope i get this sorted asap!!
nd thanx for reading thru this entire post
Are you sure the wobble is from the rear wheel? If yes, there can be several reasons:
    • Lower than recommended air pressure
    • Bent wheel
    • Worn out wheel bearings
    • Uneven tire wear
    • Loose swing arm
    • Leaky suspensions (mostly this might not be the reason)

Check for all these. But before checking all these, check if the ball racer (head nut) is loose.

    • thanks a lot..
fill surely check for all those..
even wen i refill air d wobbling is reduced but it starts after some days..
and yea i failed to mention that whenever i ride with d clutch depressed(as in not giving any power to d rear wheel) there is a khch-khch sound coming from d rear wheel as if its rubbing against something!!
dont know if this will be of much help..

Yep i had the same issue when ever i hold clutch the rear wheel wobbles as if i am going on a bumby road , in my case it was because of different tire pressures donno how it happened front 21 rear 36

the engine idle rpm is 1.4k but when i used it for 2-3 minutes its going upto 4k RPM in idling
Go there on one condition, ask them not to replace any parts of the engine.Your bike's under warranty.

Ok,there can be many things causing the noise. So better let the ASS deal with it as your bike's under warranty.Ask them to replace the cam,as it won't be coming from your pocket. It's their problem as to how they solve it.
The reason we told you to take a second opinion from a good mech ,is that he might confirm whether it's the cam for sure.

          • RTR 180 racing kit

            Hi guys,

I own an Apache 180 ABS and it has crossed 5500Kms. Saw the listof racing kit accessories for Apache 180 last time when i went to the showroom.

I am looking forward for 2 stuffs mainly. K&N air-filter and NGK iridium spark plug. I have some doubts with them. I have seen that change in air-filter requires change in fuel port or a bigger nozzle for fuel inlet(not sure of the correct name). I am not sure if they will take care of that while changing air-filter, if anyone has done the same from TVS dealer can throw some light on it or should I ask them if they will change that also..?
And for the NGK spark-plug, I read somewhere that it does justice only when used with a spit-fire cable(not sure of this name also). If so, where can i get the same in Chennai?

PS: I also get a very decent mileage for a 180, also advice if these modifications will hit on my mileage too..

I went to a mechanic for a second opinion, he asked me not to fiddle with the bike and just go to shanthi tvs and ask them to repair it, and in case they refuse then write and e-mail to the higher authorities, i did the same, santhi tvs people refused to repair my bike under warranty and asked for money and gave a idiotic reason that i am not eligible to warranty there since i purchased it from MDH Racing, i got angry and argued with them, they finally gave in but asked for 1 week time to get the cam shaft(initially they were ready to replace that part in 2 day since they did not observe that my bike is from MDH). So i took to my last resort, sent a mail to the tvs higher executives, they called me back in 5 minutes max, they apologized for the inconvenience i faced and assured me that they will solve my problem. He said he will repair my bike in the shortest time possible.

              • Guys, does any one have info about the much anticipated soft compound rubber from TVS, like when they might launch it or something?

Also, does the RTR 180 ABS come with softer compound tires as stock?

There are high chances that the ABS ones might be incorporated with softer compound tyres.TVS was testing different(dual, soft) compound tyres before the launch of ABS version.

Thanks man, i really hope to use much more stickier rubber from TVS itself in the near future.

                    Fingers crossed

Yesterday, a minute after i posted my previous message, i got a call from the TVS engineer mr.subramanyam again. He spoke to Mr.Ramdas(manager of MDH Racing Service Center). and asked that man to keep the workshop open untill my problem is solved that day. He called me to check if i was free to go to MDH then, i said yes and immediately went there. They took my bike and Mr.Ramdas tried to give silly reasons about the issue, he said my bikes part would have been replaced instantly if the issue came to his notice directly and there is no warranty problem at all. He asked me to come to him directly from next time to solve my problems and not call higher TVS officials. I didnt want to argue much and just smiled for everything he said. They replaced the part after that.(Workers were a little reluctant to work). Then Mr.Ramdas test rode it for 50-100meters and then i also test rode it for the same distance and found a squeaking noise under the fuel tank(It was a very very faint noise which can be heard at <2k rpm.. (the workshop was closed by now) he said its just because the tank has just 1 screw, he tried to move the tank a little bit and the noise kind of vanished when i started the bike again. Then i started off to home, he called me back and i had to ride ~5kms more in peak traffic just to go and find out that he called me to make me talk to the area head so that i can confirm him that my problem is solved (I have the area head's no. cant he just ask me to call that guy directly?)

During all this time i still felt that i still had the engine RPM raising issue(I was not sure about the sound problem also since there was extreme amount of traffic and i was confused).I decreased the idle RPM a little bit. Went home and took rest, gave my bike some rest.
Today morning, drove bike for a pretty long distance(~80kms). Its been a long time since i heard the normal apache sound, i forgot how it used to be. But that irregular sound was gone. Bike is a lot more silent now. Idle RPM is not going crazy now. Its a pleasure to ride it.

I guess we have wrongly assumed that the problem was carb tuning... or may be not... well, i realised i dont know a damn thing about bikes. Except bending them at corner :P

And yeah... i had got a dozen calls from various TVS officials asking me to send a reply to H.O. informing that my problem is solved. :P

Edit: Thanks to all the people who helped me solve my issue
