    • 30-35 is very GOOD for this bike.
I used to get abnormal variations in figures like 60-65kmpl in my RTR 160 FI when I used to ride it insanely (4000-5000 riding, got only one time, when i was bitten with soft riding bug for almost a week) and 30-35kmpl when I used to ride sanely.

And why you guys are limiting yourselves to 8000-8500 ?
Remember, it comes with no rev limiter !

For getting max fuel economy, up shift between 3.5 to 4.5K rpm. Above 6K is way over the economy riding range. Also, keeping the speed below 55 km/hr should help too.

P.S. Yes, i know our ride ain't a commuter. Just pointed out how to get max FE, IMHO.
The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

I asked Joel to set up my Bike for touring purpose specifically. For this requirement he suggested big bore, ffe, head work and bigger carb+filter.

He usually asks what the rider want out of the bike and then gives a setup which can deliver the requirement. In my case he said he didnt need to fit the bigger carb as the original carb with modifications can serve my purpose.

          • guys yesterday i took my bike for a long ride near airport road...i felt that my bike was performing like the RTR 160.....she was struggling to go beyond 123 and took too much time to reach 123...also the acceleration also wasnt that great...it took about 18 secs to reach 100. i shifted @ 8-9K RPM.....i just got the carb tuned and diaphragm changed and i got the air filter cleaned as well...also i got a mileage of 32 KMPL which is pathetic....last time under the same ripping i got 40 KMPL...

check chicane's video the bike the just rockets to 120 KM/h....chicane please share your bike's khubsurati(performance) ka raaz !!!

one more thing my tacho meter vibrates like hell in the afternoons yesterday no vibrations whatsoever...maybe beacuse it was 2.30 AM!!

I think we should make a database of all the parts replaced, their part number with the cost on MS Excel spreadsheet, that way it would be easier instead of searching for these posts. Will someone do it?Shivank or Garry you?

Another Update. Of late had notices that the rear tyre loses air much faster than is normal. This has been going on since I came from Bangalore on 30 th oct. Didn't get the time to check it though and thus Guess was riding on low pressure for about the last 10-12 days. Was getting a FE of 39-40 kpl with pretty good acceleration so didnt think much about it too.

Got the rear tyre checked yesterday and found a puncture. While repairing the puncture the trye repair guy said the brake pad assly has been fitted incorrectly. There is a slot near the axle right side which locates the assly but was fitted above it. This was done when I last got the brake pads cleaned in mumbai. This also made the pedal a bit hard to operate. But again due to lack of time didn't notice it enough.

Anyways I now realise that the FE which I was getting was actually less than what I was supposed to be getting because the brakes were holding the wheel back as well as the punctured tyre.

                  Lets see what happens now.
Darn it man... did you see how the pad assembly was... if you did, you'd have had the shock of your life and thanked every God you know for having saved your life till now.
It has happened to me.. and I rode in that setup from Blore to TVM by night. had has the brake pads replaced at a SVC there... when I was tightening my chain once I was back, I saw this... I did not have proper tools at that time, still I myself pulled everything out and put it back properly!!

I did thank god but before that cursed the guy who fitted it wrongly in the first place. incidences like these really show that you can never be too careful.

You re right. the difference has to be experienced but cant put it in words prperly. like for example when i said that i could take lonavla ghats in 4th gear with pillion + bags, i should have mentioned that same ghat needed 3rd gear solo in stock.
even while returning from lonavla, with improperly fitted brakes and a punctured rear tyre, i could easily touch 115 kph.
                          and still got 39-40 KPL.

So now with all these problems ut of the way, wil comment after another short ride.

and the minor incident is something which makes a ride a memorable one ;-)

It will be nice to have one but won't be so easy to build I think one person won't be able to maintain/make it. It should be like... all of us will update it everytime we replace any part or whenever we get some info about the same. Hows about it?
