I changed the same left hand front cowl and the insurance amount didn't increse this year, rather decreased by 100/- Bad roads!!
NH are suppose to best roads in India, but sadly a good stretch of road has a huge potholes back here in West Bengal and still no maintenance work.. just here and there patch work which gets washed with a single pour!!!

Its the same fate of roads everywhere. Even here in KA which has the highest road tax and worst roads, newly tarred roads get washed away in 2 days of rain.

Regarding the premium amount dipping for you, its because the IDV of the vehicle decreased too. What's the current price of your bike?
Say if one goes for a ZERO DEP and then redeems warranty for 20-25k worth of repairs,
1. NCB goes for a toss.
2. Premium increases by 200 odd rupees.

I am Mithun & I am new in this forum.
I have Karizma ZMR 2011. Sorry I didnt read all the previous post because of less time, but i am facing a big problem with my ZMR. Please help me out.
Kindly listen to my problem carefully, my narration might not be very accurate.

Problem in short:
1. Bike engine will stop working if I ride my bike for 30 minutes continuously . Engine will killed automatically while traveling.
2. Engine will not start for 5 min, after 5 min engine will start & run for 3-4 kilometers only. Then it will stop again. Bike will take rest after doing 3-4 km.
3. If I ride at 80 km/h, then bike will not ride more than 10 min. if I ride at 60 km/h, it will run for 30 min only, after that bike engine will auto kill.
Please please help me out ASAP.

For info, Battery is fine. Horn, Lights are fine,
Engine oil is just 1000 km old. Shell fully synthetic.

Problem in details:

My ZMR is now 2 years old. The problem started in February this year, I was riding my ZMR from Jalandhar(Punjab) to Gurgaon(Haryana), aprrox 400 km.
I was cruising comfortably on 90km/h. after riding for 1 hour, i thought to take it to par 100km/h.
I ride at 105 km/h comfortably for 20 mins. After that suddenly bike engine got cut off, literally engine down while running at 100 km/h.
I pressed clutch + ignition, ignition tried to fire engine but engine was not starting.
I stopped my bike. Again tried to start it, but it wont start. Battery was fine, horn, lights were fine.
I was confused. I rested for 5 min, then I again fire the engine & wohlaaaaa, it starts.

I continued my journey to Gurgaon. But after this, on the whole tour, bike engine was doing the same again & again after running for 12-15 min.
Bike engine will go down after every 15 min ride & I had to stop it for 5 min, then it starts again.

I rested for couple of hours in my friends house on the way, so bike took rest, so it was going fine after that. i didnt touched 100 km/h in that journey after that .

So this incident was way back & I am very steady rider, I ride at 80-90 km/h but dont exceed to 100 km/h( i dont knw why), i dont feel comfortable.

Now this problem is started again & this time its much much worse. I cant ride my bike more than 30 min. Engine will stop & I have to cool it down for 5 min, then it will run for 5 min & then will again stop.

I am very afraid now. and the worst part is hero honda mechanics have no clue why this is happening.

for your info, engine oil is just 1000km old, Shell fully synthetic. No heating issue otherwise I could feel the heat near my foot.

Please Help me out. ASAP

Maybe the oil is not doing it's job. If however the engine stops without any jerks then its not seizure so we can rule out that part about suspecting the oil. I guess..
Next suspect is the fuel pump only. For running so long i guess it's getting heated and switching off. No other reasons are occuring to me. Is it that when you drive at a particular speed that your engine goes off or is it after a particular time after your engine is on? If its the latter then it has to be the fuel pump.
Others can guide you if am wrong..

Have you checked the basics: air filter, water in fuel tank, spark plug... if all these have got the green signal, Ask the svc guys to take a look at the fuel pump, I think this mostly is the culprit, all the symptoms you described are with regards to a faulty fuel pump, go back a few pages you would be able to read the issues faced by other members here, that are almost similar to yours.

I had the EXACT same problem. I had a tough time making the ASC guys understand the issue. I even went to the extent of multiple mail exchanges between the legal head of HMC and regional manager as well. You need to make a video when and how the problem occurs. My issue was finally resolved by the manager (Mr. Vinod) at the ASC of Ranjeet Motors at Thane, Maharashtra. Ask your ASC manager to have a word with Mr. Vinod (tell him this was in reference to an issue that he had resolved for a ZMR from Kolkata. I believe he would be able to explain the fault to the ASC guys.


BTW, my ZMR's fuel pump was the culprit. There's a coil inside the fuel pump that goes kaput as and when the heat increases. Cold start is always fine though.


My bike was under warranty, else I could have gone lighter by Rs.11,200/-. I hope this works for you.

Hi guys,

First of all very nice to be on this forum. Got a bike finally @ 25 yrs of age for me. I had been cribbing from 16-17 onwards to get a new bike but was denied by my dad. He's so autocratic. Doesn't even let me touch the car's steering wheel. So, finally after completing my MBA this year bought a Candy Blazing Red Karizma ZMR on August 30, 2013. I was hell bent on buying the CBR 250. My mom was all fine with it too, until again my father pitched in & spoiled everything. So, settled for ZMR instead.
Dropped my bike twice till now. Second time it was not my fault at all. I was clearly 10-12m ahead of an IOCL bus & was overtaking from left to the right. But, he didn't seem to notice it at all & was just going at his own pace refusing to brake at all. & the bus hit my silencer guard & my bike high-sided right there. Thankfully, our speeds had slowed down as there was a traffic jam ahead. No damages to the fairing at all!! Just a small scratch to the left fairing & a broken right RVM. Replaced RVM & silencer guard for Rs.300(Red) & Rs.594(Gold one) resp. Spares seem to be available here in Guwahati though contrary to what I had heard from xBhp & other friends. I'm going in for the 1st service tmrw & wud like to know any tips for the same. Also, will they/how to repair the small scratch on the fairing? Any i/p shall be highly appreciated.

Welcome to xbhp and ZMR family.
Nice to know nothing serious happened but let me tell you that it was entirely your mistake.
Overtaking from left is a crime almost every Indian does at will. A bus has a huge blindspot due to its size and then overtaking from its left adds to the misery of the driver.

Thnx man. But, still those govt. buses are really too much. Not their own property. Get higher salaries compared to other pvt. guys. U get the drift.
So, now I' ve decided to be xtra careful on the road-
- Ring the horn loud evrytime I overtake a vehicle,
- Or at least wring my throttle evry now & then, but will be careful enough to not disturb the ladies though its not a superbike. Just to let them knw that I'm there amidst them..
- Respect the bus & trucks community from now on
- Hv seen tons of motorcycle vids/tutorials from youtube to see if I don't know something which I shud've

BTW. When is the CBR 300 coming to India? Will it come to India? I don't like the bold, strange styling of Duke at all. Maybe the RC series will be better..
