Have you guys noticed the difference in the new GRS shocks. I have noticed this recently. The ZMR with zapper tyre is a 2012 model and the shocks are factory-fitted. And the ZMR with Sirac rear tyre is Rakesh_ZMR's. He recently replaced the shocks on his bike and they design is slightly different. The hydraulic unit is inverted. The mechanic at the SVC told they design is changed as the initial shocks lose gas when hit potholes at high speeds. I don't know how far its true. And I don't know how inverting the hydraulic springs adds durability. and I don't know if there are any other changes internally in the springs.

    Old design

    New design

Any ZMR owner confirm on N250 front disc pads

Haven't notice the shocks in new ZMR...will check...

may be for more riding comfort the shocks design / internally changed...

I guess even the gas reserve chamber is also changed.chamber looks bit larger.Anyhow, how is the ride quality now??? Because, even i feel my shocks become flat in small pot holes itself even though on highway cruising (good road) i don't recognize any problem. My brother (pillion) usually complaint that the shock's aren't good.I complained to SVC,but my effort to convince them became use less.Let me know how the ride quality is in the new shocks. If it is good, then i will insist the svc to change mine.

N250 front disc pads are a direct fit on ZMA as well as ZMR. Being sintered pads, braking improves to a good extent. But, the downside is it wears off sooner. N250R owners have reported as low mileage as 5k kms for the pads.

xwarrior, you are right. The ZMR with new shocks is more than 2 years old. The shocks are replaced recently.

                        • I have no complains against the front disk pads. But have changed the rear disk pads twice till now in the 25k till date. They usually last about 7k kms and I don't think they are vfm. My front disk pads are still stock though i do most of the braking using front ones. So is there any other rear disk pads that would do the job as the stock pads but don't cost a hole in the pocket.

                            Tell me you're joking!

In my ~25k kms, rear pads are still stock. Seems they'll last till 30k or so. I use 90:10 front:rear nowadays. [Peak traffic movements in Bangalore]
Front pads replaced twice, 1st time at 13.5k and second near 23k kms.

                            Both pads are VFM IMO.

Ninja pads should last at least 6-7k kms on the ZMR.

                            • We generally have the habit of applying rear brakes all the time, even when its not necessary. In traffic and at lower speeds, use of front brake is enough to stop the bike. I use rear brake only when sudden braking is needed (both at high speeds and low speeds). Even at high speeds, when there is ample distance to stop, just a little tap on rear brake is enough. This way the rear disc pads would last more than 15-20k kms.

I usually use front brakes, however without my knowledge, the rear brake is applied as we tend to rest our right leg on the rear brake pegs.. so that is something we cannot avoid... or can we??
