Is the fuel filter the one which is directly beneath the fuel on/off knob?
..and will it need an mandatory oil change when we clean the oil filter?
(somewhere in the forum i read there is no oil filter in Pulsars. What they have is an oil strainer...
    ??)

You are in the P220 Fi thread... There is no fuel on-off knob

Yes, its a strainer that performs the function of a filter. That's why it doesnt need to be replaced.

        • My bike today made me realize how very UNFIT I am... My battery died today after 3.5 years of loyal service... In the morning I started it with the help of the building watchmen giving me a push... Went to my regular battery guy but he was shut... When I reached another battery shop to get my battery checked he confirmed the battery will need to be replaced... I wasn't carrying enough cash so told him to pack it up right now and I will come back in the evening... He packed it up but then refused to give me a push... Bloody ras***... I wished him bad luck and I left.. tried push starting it myself but it just wouldn't happen... A couple of good people on the road gave me a hand... My bike roared to life in a couple of attempts... I thanked them went to my regular battery guy who was now open... Got a exide fitted and off I was... But that 20 minutes of pushing made me struggle for breath and I sweated a few litres...

My sports demons are also working very well... got to test them on the g2g to lonavala... I have lost on top speed 120 max, where I used to get 140... But superb control and confidence while cornering, braking and braking while cornering... Also the stopping distance seems to have improved significantly... I think it is a very good city tyre...
          "stay hungry, stay foolish."

To those who have attitude... My middle finger salutes you...!

          • @ALL: Anyone going in for battery changes, I would suggest moving from Exide to Amaron. Overall better warranty and better quality battery. I'm on my third battery now. Every 1.5 years the battery dies out

EDIT: My front tyre the IRC Wildflare had worn out some 8K kms back but out of sheer laziness had not changed it. I wanted that tyre again, but could not due to some logistics issues. I am now running on the Zapper FX. Its a OK tyre, grip is like stock only. Would recommend stock Zapper FS over the FX.

But the best tyre out there is the IRC Wildflare. Go for it if you get one... *Sigh!*

            • hey..

              my p220 fi's 32k old..

i've been facing an issue where i feel that i'm being forced to make the bike work really hard(rev hard and high) to get good acceleration...

my chain sprocket had worn out so i thought that could be the problem..but now i've got that changed and although it feels better..its still not good enough

for instance,i dont really feel the pull of the bike as hard as i did previously..but i do reach the same speeds..

its like the low end torque is missing or something..(problems with exhuasTEC ??)

and one more thing..my engine idling is not smooth..its like "dhuk-dhuk-dhuk-du-du-dhuk dhuk"..i hope u get that ;-) :-)

              thanks for the assist.. :-)

Me too using the fz tyre to my p220 (front only) feel nice grip
Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handle bars to the seat.

I don't like the grip, its not enough. And the profile it forms is really weird!

Fine...it is partially worn out now. So what is your suggestion to me for the next choice? [front and back]

                      • i use zapper FS 80/90 front (R15 tyre) and 130/70 pirelli sport demon rear.works like a charm in all condition.however the front does tend to slip a bit on loose gravel after 5k-6k kms of use (rather a hint of slip-a small nudge may be to tell u hey bro!! take it easy or you may get dumped) .

advantage with this combination is that the bike become much more flickable and great for cornering.

The best combo for tourers is the IRC Wildflare 90/90 and Sirac 120/90! No doubts about that.

Same characteristics with the above combo too.

@ALL: This is a caution notice to all P220 Fi guys!

Have a look at the below attached image.

This capacitor is linked to the charging and ignition circuit of our bikes and its placed close to the battery compartment. This is very prone to rusting as during rains and water washing there is a chance of spray of water hitting and causing rusting over a period of time. The wire can rust and break off as show in the below image.

Your bike will die, nothing will work. Ignition will not come on and the fuel pump will not power up too. So dhakka start will not work too.

Recommended Action:Check for signs of rusting every 6-12 months for sign of rusting. This can be more of a problem for those living in coastal areas. If you see rusting, replace the part immediately. It costs only 45 bucks!
