(no other way to describe the sound so sorry) .. the chain is well lubed, also when i start the bike the light on the display flickers . i never start the bike with the headlights on and also the sound for the horn has gone low becaue of the battery ..

    Please help with the same.

Also crazy people out here say that never to give the bike to the Service center as they change the parts .. i dont think thats true .. but Experts . do u think that they might do so ?

The sound is coming due to over tight chain...it will go in some time....authorized svc guys will never replace parts, only some mechanics in the svc may do it for their income without getting known by the manager....

Unless you already have a single seat cowl-that will cover it.

You are right in your assumption-they have ways&means to disable electronic systems, pick steering locks etc. The only safest way is to chain it, but you cannot do that everywhere you go!
So the next best thing is to find a secured parking spot.
u can't secure it in any way .. the thieves will find some other way to jack the bikes .. the only way is to park it in reliable and safe spot .. but where is safe place ???

Initially TVS took the lead, but R15 caught it soon. The pull was very nice after 5K rpm, none of the bike could catch it, even i slowed down it a bit and let the other bikes move ahead, i still could catch them in no time.
By that time Apache was struggling on 110 and was not going further. (After the race the Apache rider had an excuse that his helmet started to flew with the wind, otherwise he could touch 140 )
Avenger managed to come closer to 120.

        Winner - R15, Loser - TVS Apache 180
Wow. Congratulations on your Effort. You have made a Conclusion by a so called "Drag" on a Stretch where Motorcycles aren't allowed. Keep it coming.

                • long distance riding

Hi guys, am new on this forum so I dont know all the rules, but I just got my black r15 a month ago.(have attached pics). Loving this bike so much.

The feel of top end torque feels like a turbine kicking in. I study at NIT Calicut so my riding is mostly through the ghat section-mountain roads for which this bike is just a dream!
Have heard that the rims are a little weak though.
Is there anything I can do to make sure they're safe (riding precautions/techniques...etc.)
More importantly, I am planning to ride to bangalore in a few days(around 340 kms). run in is over and 1st service is over. I would really like some pointers on long distance riding and also what important things to carry.

                  Would really appreciate the help.
                  Thanks...

That happened on the first day that I got her and since then, the fan has not kicked in. I don't get any malfunction lights, but my coolant level goes down like a bitc*, about 700ml in less than 1000kms of riding. Oh and the bike does overheat a bit more than the other R15s that I've seen.

What confuses me is that malfunction light should come on if the radiator fan is ****ed, and that hasn't happened yet.
Nothings wrong with your fan, my fan kicks in only on hilly terrain where i keep riding at very high RPMs in 1st and 2nd gear, never heard that fan in city riding but coolant level is a little disturbing, i should go check mine. And as far as burning smell is concerned it has always been there for me , is something wrong with my bike ??

                    • 6th service

Guys i got my 6th and the final free service done a couple of days earlier...
13415kms on the ODO and the bike is doing well, but for the kind of service.

I have complained about the BENT HANDLE, VERY ROUGH GEAR SHIFT AND THE REAR SUSPENSION....
Well, the handle problem: I was told that the forks of the handle were bent and the mechanic who does this repair was not available that day. So i was asked to come the other day. My bike feels like the handle could come off when going through a speed breaker or a pot hole. there is a Tak Tak sound always coming in such instances. I have to find time to go and get that sorted asap....

Now the gear shift. This was one problem i was facing since long and i was told that it was due to the chain slack. Fortunately the slack was cleaned and the chain looks in a good condition. The gear shift seemed perfect for the first half hour of ride but the problem was back after that. I always fear engine stalling in lower gears due to this. The bike doesnt rev high easily. Seems like the engine is taking a lot of pain for high revving. SERVICE IS PATHETIC.

                      Suspension problem was sorted.

the vibrations from the fairing doesnt seem to leave. for some 10mins after the service, they seemed ok. but after i hit the heavy traffic and left, they seemed to come back and its very irritating...

I repeat again, the service is pathetic. I gotta make my way down to the svc another day and get all these stuff sorted...And from the next service, i got the service manual and i will try to do it on my own... well hope so

Congrats and welcome to this forum brother Who told you that rims were weak of R15. I have toured a lot in Himachal last year with my R15 and have gone couple of days without tarmac and faced no such issue and yes even I have the same Black Model. You just need to keep the air pressure in both the tyres checked and thats all. And try to avoid pot holes
                        Before touring:
                        1. get chain tightened/adjusted. clean and lubed.
                        2. go to a SVC get all the fluids check - engine oil, brake oil, coolant.
                        3. get all the fairings tightened.
                        4. get a tubeless puncture repair kit, in case you need it.
                        5. tie your baggage firmly, a loose luggage is always dangerous in touring.
                        6. since your is just 1k km old u dont need to check the brake pads or else if old u need to check it as well.
And for YOU - wear all the safety gears and a proper helmet.
Ride safe and pour in some pics of your tour brother.

Abhi thats surprising, unless and until I am stuck in traffic my fan doesnt kick in. In hills its only at Kalka where the traffic is jammed up that at times fan has come on or else all the time it was good. reduction of coolant level drastically needs some supervision and expert hand. get it checked.

Yopu need to change your SVC brother, as there is no problem as such which so ever you are talking about. I would say shoot a mail to Yamaha people or talk to the service manager of that service center.

Please avoid posting about so called "Drag Races", Traffic Signal GPs and Street Racing and alike and saying I did a 125Kmph while the other guy did 124Kmph. It's just a mere number at the end of the day. This has no relevance to Ownership experiences..
