  • Hey guy's, just want to share something here, and yep, many might be knowing this already. Anyways here you go...

Try to place the balls of your foot on the foot pegs while riding all the time unless you are shifting/braking. This gives the rider a much more controlled feel while riding and you could shift your body weight easily while cornering. And Btw, by practicing this, you won't be pressing the brake lever unknowingly too

Yes, it is a bit tough for first timers, cos you've got to move your foot every time you brake/shift, but is worth trying.
The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

    • @Prakritij: I can relate to what happened to you. Yesterday my bike's front tyre was wiggling like a snake when I braked a bit hard in a slushy road. It has happened once earlier on moss&it was very scary.
At such times, use the rear brake to stabilize.
However, using only the rear brake will also lead to skidding/wheel locking. This happened once in the early days on sand.
I guess the only way to brake perfectly on this bike is 70% front, 30% rear, anytime, anywhere.

yes, the Tires have very good grip on dry asphalt but give them anything else like slush, gravel, sand, whatever, you gotta be extra careful. Soft compounds

        • @abhi9665663488 - check your disc pads once with YFS at wakdewadi, have a word with nitin the head of svc center.

@ Prakritij - Very sorry to hear that bro, Good to hear that you bought the gears and make sure you use them regularly. On a friendly advice check the handle rods, fork and alignment of the front as that normally goes kaput.

Its 2600, But 1st see if its really required to change, coz most of the times the Svc guys will not tighten the two Ring nuts below the Handle. The assume it like a normal bike and leave it loose.

This will cause the handles to wobble and an uneasy feeling while braking. Ask the Svc guy to have the First ring nut from the bottom, tighten to 45NM torque and the upper one to 13NM torque. Coz R15s handles are not like a common bike.

@Harishk thanks bro.... will share the same info with the Svc guy..

Thank You bro, while coming back I left the handles to see if she veers to one side which she did to the left side but it was almost negligible maybe due to road irregularities.
We both are resting now will fix her fairing with araldite if possible or else will have to change it

I took half day off from work to go to Ernakulam and fit handle bar grips over the OEM ones. After fitting, simply inquired about 35W 12V 3000k HID with Projectors which they quoted 7k for 2 and 3k for 1. Wanted them because of the rains as OEM lights are not very bright for Night riding even without rains.
After that rode off towards Angamali without any particular destination in mind as I frequently do. After Aluva, rain started, So I stopped at a HP gas station to fill Petrol and had Lunch there itself.
After filling my Tummy, returned back towards Ernakulam and it was still raining slightly. One big vehicle was in front so the whole road in front was a blind spot. Then came the crossing near the Airport and since the Truck or Bus(I don't clearly remember.) was moving, I too was at its tail(low speed only). When the Vehicle crossed the crossing, the lights suddenly turned red and I braked hard(I use only the front ones) and skidded and I was off the Bike. I could register what happened only after I came to a stop. One Auto driver and a by-stander came near me but didn't helped. I got up slowly and sensed the amount of injuries which were Thank GOD only limited to bruises on my left knee and left elbow and a minor scratch on the right palm. Then I lifted my Bike and put her on stand(while lifting her, I was thinking about exercising the "how to pick up your Bike after a fall" posted in Xbhp)
Took her to the left side and checked her wounds. The LHS fairing was scratched and the fairing area near the pilot lamp(the thinnest part) was cracked, the LHS RVM also was loose. tried to start her but saw the Orange engine light on. turned the Ignition key off and turned on again and it was OK and she started at the first thumb, I stood there for about 5mins and took off to the nearest Hospital, got the wounds dressed and a tetanus injection. I was still 50kms from Home.
Rode back Home, the handling was Fine but my confidence got bruised too. checked Handle bar play by leaving the hands and found her veering to the left very slightly which may have been due to the Road surface(not sure).
I was wearing Helmet, Rain jacket and steel toed safety boots which saved my feet as there were scratches on them too. Jeans and jacket got torn. somehow the RHS pilot lamp was not glowing which I saw on a car's reflection.
After reaching Home, immediately bought Fox knee and elbow guards which I was pending for the last couple of Weeks as I was waiting for a discount coupon which came Today in the form of bruises.

A similar incident happened to me on Sunday.
I was headed towards TGIP Mall. Speed was about 40-45kmph only. Suddenly, just before a Signal, I was slowing and there was a Tata safari on my left, a dog jumped in front of the bike from the Left side, tried avoiding it but it jumped back right on the front wheel and the bike fell, skidded with the bike for a few meters.

Damage to self: both elbows and right knee bruised.

                To bike and gear: RHS Fairing, Right side of HeadLamp fairing scratched; Front Brake lever end scratched, RHS RVM broken;
Right side of the Helmet and visor scratched, Padding on the Right hand's glove scratched a lot; knee area of the Denim Jeans gone completely.

For a few moments I didn't realized what happened, tried getting up but noticed that the road is not stationary (It didn't occured to me that I was sliding), a few people around the area came to pick me and bike. Checked the bike, started it and rode to my place, informed a friend (flyingJian here on xBHP).

Funny thing: On the very first day I purchased the bike; the bike fell while parking and since then the indicator keep falling. This time, after so much damage to the bike, both the indicators are intact

So much damage at 40 kmph
I think Yamaha should introduce flame sliders or something for the r15,it really needs them.I have had two falls on my bike so far at 70kmph and thank heaven for the crash guard..not a scratch on me and minor scratches on the bike.

Yes man, they should've kept in mind about the frame sliders while making a fully faired Bike as the plastic parts are getting cracked during such incidents not to mention the scratches. Hope they provided frame sliders in the R15 V2.0.

The RHS pilot LED fused after the accident(I wonder how?). pulled it out and saw one of its terminals was burnt and broken in half. hope soldering another piece of wire to it will help

I went to SVC in Noida today.
                          The Estimated Damage and Cost:

                          Chasis Alignment: 3600
                          Shocker Alignment: 1700
                          RHS Side Panel: 800
                          RHS Inner Panel: 850
                          Front Cowling: 800
                          Front Disk Brake plate: 1200
                          RHS RVM: 300

I was told that Insurance won't cover Alignements and only 50% for the fiber parts... as well as that I have to leav ebike for a week at SVC in case I claim Insurance.

However, I don't think that chasis is so weak that it would need bent so easily that too at so low speed.

I am now thinking to try any other SVC in delhi near by my place and go check there about the estimation.

PS: I'm also thinking about writing a mail to Yamaha about the Quality if there is really that much damamge.

                          • Right Now, I'm leaving for another SVC but it is in ganesh nagar, New delhi... Let's see what do I find out there... coz I'm pretty sure that the quoted damage and cost by Noida SVC is too much and might not be correct..
