The tubeless tyres are good for clocking speeds above 100+ even with a flat . I'm impressed. But the quality of the wheels are hopeless. They can never even withstand a simple pot hole.
cool so you were touring huh... pot holes and all..

guys the R15 crossed this bridge

3rd service done pacer charged 540rs for the service . Engine oil changed with synthetic oil ( castrol ) god knows how pacer set the tappets. The bike has become like a mixer grinder. its smooth but mean and noisy .... clutch was smooth for 2 days now its become hard again.

      • NOt really touring. Rode to Kerala for a function that I had to attend. Was a last minute plan and no tickets were available.
Covered 500kms in 7hrs 15mins including riding with a flat for nearly 20kms on the way back to bangalore. The krishnagiri - Dharmapuri roads are superb now.
Speedo was always above 100kmph and I have only filled gas worth Rs 1200 during the 1100kms journey. Beat that! . Terrific fuel efficiency for my redlining riding style and my tweekend engine . At some patches I was holding 140 on the speedo sitting upright as well.

@Navnish - U sure have baalls of something else to attempt something like that

regarding b:lls i took the bike to the jungle in my last ride...it was just streams streams and thick jungle and one bamboo bridge to cross .

@sk8er_joe i am using synthetic oil after 1500kms were done. and the ss guys at pacer have a option of putting synthetic oil / yamaha lube.

                • Mixer grinder? Ride my bike to know what that actually means. Grunt at its best!
Your tappets are on the looser side now, hence you hear that grunty note. Its fine man, dont bother. Its better to have loose tappets than a tighter one.

But well, don't loose tappets cause vibes? Navnish says he is having an ultra-smooth experience on the other hand right? My bike starts vibrating harmonically as soon as it hits 5k RPM, and the vibes keep getting intensier as we throttle up the rev range, like there's some sort of resonance occuring.

And Joel, welcome to the club man! I've had twin broken alloys because of a pot-hole too

                      • Loose tappets need not give more vibes. It will produce a grunty engine note. So at lower rpms, the engine will sound a little clattery but will smoothen out as revs build. Thats what Navnish is talking about.
Check if your tappets are within the tolerance levels.

BTW, how much do those wheels cost. Fr and Back?
My front wheel is also a little wobbly. I can never hit the track with these wheels untill I change. Guess I'll claim insuarance if its too expensive.

                          Rear rim: 2924 Rs,
                          Front: 2378 Rs

Plus each valve costs around 150/300 Rs +Fitting charges.

I don't know these guys at Pearl Yamaha are not ready to open it all up again and check my tappets because "it's already done once". And my bike's due by atleast 1500kms before the next service(third). If only I could do it all by myself! I like the grunt of my bike,it goes crazy at high RPMs,and gives out bass at low RPMs, liking it overall. I only wish the vibes went off lol! What else do I need to check for vibrations? And do you have any idea how I can get things better taking my present situation into consideration?

                          EDIT:

I was lubing the chain of my bike the other day. So lifted the rear tyre somehow and got the wheel rotating, and then..I noticed a strange behavior. The rear wheel stops rotating for a split second as if someone braked hard, whenever i twist the throttle. It then starts accelerating. But that split-second stop is definitely there, so much that the bike moves a little when that happens. Do you have any idea why this might happen? DOes this have anything to do with the valve clearances? Or is this normal?

What an entry man! Looks like some high pos dignitary entering into the scene
I love my bike. And the problems I had..they're just common

First prob, the rims were broken..showroom guys kept my bike with them for more than month, never giving an honest date of delivery. And this, in really bad and dusty conditions..I felt like crying looking at my bike. If this's how they treat a premium bike(ofcourse not as premium as the Busa/R1, but it definitely is.. compared to the gladiators :P) ,I wonder what it is for all other vehicles! The bike's rear body was scratched at their place. I screamed and they promised to replace it for free, but didn't. And I didn't stress much on that cos of not wanting to leave the bike with them for another month.

Next problem is the only one.. the vibes and roughness..and it still remains unsolved :| Except these 2, everything else about my bike is simply great, I love every moment spent with it and enjoyed it like never before in my entire life!
