  • Hi Guyz ,

for some of the R15ers the tyre size have been a mojor issue as they see its looks doesn't go with that of the bike, ..
I have managed o change both the tyres, the rear tyre fixed at the front wheel and to the rear tyre fixed a 120 tubeless, well the overall performance is fantastic and i am quiet happy with it.

One of my friend got a red colour R15, got fixed a 150 tyre (not a tubeless ) when i saw i was surprised as to he he might have done it, as most say that the swing arm set cannot be brodened furthur, he did not do any alterations with the swing arm or the jaw but just changed the magwheels to that of Rado, with this tyre the handling is not as good as the stock but looks great.

Forward journey was fine.. but while returning, the YELLOW light(engine heat up signal) turned on. There was terrible traffic on the way back, and I had to travel in 1st gear / 2nd gear for the most part. The engine had heated up big time. I thought I should allow it cool down. I waited until the yellow warning light went off. I reached home somehow. One day later, I again went to work and while coming back, I experienced the same problem.

This time, the electric start went for a toss... no warning lights,.. the entire console was off... I had to push down and start the vehicle in 1st gear.
Sorry to hear about your problem . However, without sounding too condescending your biggest mistake was ride the bike next day as if everything was o.k. with the bike. By doing that you have made the situation worst that it was. BTW the Yellow light is for Engine System Trouble Warning and the Red light is for Coolant Temp Warning. So which was it, the red or the yellow?

Abhimanyu, it was the yellow light that came up. I had to take the vehicle to service station. Even today, when I was taking it to service station, none of the start up lights turned on when put the key to ON position. I had to push down the road and start the vehicle in 1st gear. I then went to Orion motors and explained the problem in detail..The mechanic said he needs 2 days for observation. God knows what check they are going to do.

          @akhilmuraleedhar
Akhil, we both seem to have similar problems... I will keep you posted on developments in the same thread... Also, when you dont use your bike for say 3-4 days, do you observe that the AIR pressure goes down drastically? If so, does the AIR pressure reduce for both rear and front tyres?
In my bike, only the front tyre reduces from 27 to 15 and absolutely nothing happens to rear tyre... let me know ..

          • Hi guys

I'm thinking about getting a r15. Im around 6 ft and just around 50kg. Would r15 be comfortable for me to ride. Currently mind is stuck between a 220 dtsi and the r15. Also would r15 look good for people my size

Then it is not a overheating problem. The overheating (if there is any) is a symptom and result of something else that is wrong. Overheating of the engine cannot knock out the entire instrument panel.

As for your front tire pressure. I have faced that problem, check the valve, air may be slowly but surely leaking out from there. Once the valve was replaced I have not faced the problem anymore.

              • i spoke to a yamaha engineer friend of mine, he advised a check of the coolant temperature sensor or even replacement, if the warning light is coming. dunno how helpful would this be, but supposedly it occurs in a number of cases.

no offence to the R15 its an amazing bike but AFAIK at 6 feet you would feel cramped as I am 5.10 and felt the same where as 220 is a bit more comfortable however 220 is not as good as R15 on the track.....

6 ft and 50 kgs is too less ... if you buy R15 or P220, and when you are speeding on the high way with, you will lose balance mate ..

As Akhil said, you need to put on ...

As far as the choice goes, R15 is much better !

^ I'm 52kgs. And I don't lose balance. On the contrary it has helped me achieve a speedo-indicated 146kmph on a totally flat road...

Go for the R15 if you can buddy. Ride one around your favourite roads, and you'll not want to ride any other bike...
                              You get the point?? :D
