  • Back to chennai in R15

It was long due for me to do a long ride; nothing comes better then riding back to Chennai from Kolkata. This time i had a company to ride along with me; his name is Gibran a fellow xbhpian from Kolkata. It was he who planned this ride as he wanted to mod his bike in Bangalore.
More photo and log will be coming soon..
For time being a teaser pic.

dude i'd advise you to stick to wax. I'm using carnauba wax (used it twice till now) and no complaints.
I'm a bit apprehensive about teflon because it started flaking off on my last bike. Also some dullness crept in some places and I couldn't get it off no matter how hard I tried.
      Hey TnT..waddap..
Wax? This is something new for me now..
No idea about wax..what is it, how to apply n all..

The one I'm using is sort of a liquid soap, which also imparts shine after rinsing away (some wax layer it seems). Brand 'carnauba'. Other brands are also available I guess. A capful of that thing in 1/2 mug of water is enough. Mix it up to a nice lather and then apply it on the bike (after first rinsing away all the visible dirt), part by part, top to down. Start with the tank, front cowl, then sides, back, etc. Rub that lather nicely onto the bike surface. After you've put this on all the parts, then start rinsing with water from the tank downwards. After you've washed all the soap away, take a soft dry cloth and polish the surfaces.. that's it.

          • pirelli rocks

just an update.Aftr much much much delibrations over the past 1 year& 24k kms I have finally changed the rear tyre to pirelli scorpion 120/90/17 (wanted 120/80 but some miscommunication resulted in this).
Anyways it is a straight plug & play fit & boy anyone wishing to change the tyre to fatter one for looks/stability/whatever reason can safely go ahead & do so atleast with pirelli.
also had an oppurtunity to test an R15 with pirelli 140/70/17 but felt sluggish. It was an accident vehicle so might be the reason for sluggishness.
385 kms in last 4 days & it has been a wonderful experience.

Congrats on the new tyre Raje! I'm sure you would have tested it out very well in the last 385 kms/4 days. How is the topend now? What about corners&most importantly grip in gravel-this was lacking in the stock tyre.

              • gravel is the one thing which has pleased me a lot ...i have a bad habit of taking the bike at places not meant for it & it has been brilliant...

corners is more or less the same ...but as my front is also worn out ..havent tested the tight corners yet...will update once front one is changed

I guess the top end will be affected by about 3-5 kmph but again the chain sprocket is due for replacement & the bike was doing 132 on speedo before tyre change & it is doing the same now..

Sounds good! How come only 132 on the speedo? Mine has done 139 once by me&Chandru claims 144 on the speedo on my bike.

So..would you say 120/90 is better than 120/80?
Might wanna consider it in future..
                      Pricing?

                      • What does it mean when people say that you need to add tyre seal liquid in your tubeless tyre.. does it do any good in the long run.. will it affect if I touch my rim and remove the tyre and fit it manually????

Nice, especially about the change in handling in gravel!

A pic or two would be nice DK bhai (of your r15 with the new tyre)

I would stick to stock tyres when I have to change, will consider pirelli if stock is outta stock.

I'm hoping the situation would change for the better, when it's time for me..

                              Too optimistic na..

                              BTW @ gaurav_c

The exact brand name of the wax I use is Formula 1 Carnauba Car Wax. It seems carnauba wax is actually a general term for this type of wax. See here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnauba_wax
