@All: I received a very nice message from Yamaha, birthday wishes. Felt really nice-but the only thing is TODAY IS NOT MY BIRTHDAY!
I too got a message from Yamaha on the eve of my birthday . Felt very happy

Actually laquering is the best option as it is the best paint preserving process, my old enticer looked brand new for almost 6 years because of this, although i am sure it is quite expensive and any fall will nullify it.So, in my opinion go in for Teflon coating as of now.

How is lacquering done? Is it spray painted?

            • Just washed my chain and was getting back , changed to second gear and open throttle and i see a activa idiot , stops right in the middle of the road , to speak to the shop keeper .

Pull right , break with wet discs :-).
LHS indicator touched and was left hanging in the air,
Came home , pushed it back and its back to working condition.

              Nice indicators :-)

              • @Priyatam, Shanz, tibby, krishnakanth_r15: I got the headlamp cowl changed today-cost Rs.388+labor Rs.50. They washed the bike for free.
However, they didn't have the 4 plastic screws connecting the visor to the headlamp cowl. They said they will get it in a couple of days, the cost of those is Rs.58 each! At that cost I can happily get drum liners for my other bike!
I don't understand what is so special about these screws&nuts-the allen type chromed ones cost about Rs.65 each it seems!

@santa: Indicators are flexible, almost like Pulsars.

@krishnakanth_r15: I saw a couple of red single seat cowls at Pearl Gachibowli today.

                • @santoosh - there is a rubber retainer behind the indicator that holds it in place, there are two slots that fit into the rubber retainer, Make sure they are fitted properly. Other wise the indicator will dangle soon..

Rs. 58/- each Check with Venkatesha motors about the availability and price.
Flexible like pulsar, how ? You mean they can be turned 360 degrees ?

dont know about the pulsar one's but by flexible he means to say that they indicators have the freedom to slighty bend (not at the joint ofcourse) so that they dont break easily incase they bump into something.
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

okay, got it now. I'm worried about the front indicators all the time as they are wide enough to take the beating when some one closely cuts in front of me in slow moving traffic. Already front RHS indicator started to dance a bit, may be because many people have hit it at the parking bay while trying to move their bikes. But I really love those tiny indicators.

I would have loved if the front indicators are integrated into the side fairing ala Ninja ZX-6R!

Yeah, I'm more worried about mine, as I have the LEDs in them. The 1st time my bike fell, the cover got chipped a bit, luckily it didn't break though.
About the screws, I asked them are they made of gold or something? To this, they replied that the chromed fairing screws are about Rs.75 each!
I went away from there coz I didn't wanna hear any more exorbitant prices!

                          • @Sarvajit: If u go to SVC once again, can u ask about availability of those seat cowls. \

Anways, how did u lose those screws? And without screws are able to use the bike!!!
The spare parts of Yamaha always keep on increasing, dont know the reason. Rs 58 each for a screw is very costly indeed.

                            • @priayatam - if you notice, the width of the rear view mirrors is slightly more than how much the indicators stick out, so if anything, thats an indication of how much gap you need to keep/maintain, but that would be only if youve kept the RVM.

                              • New bike!!!

Hello from a proud owner of a Sunset red YZF - R-15…it’s been close to a month that I posted a question in the “What bike” section and an amazing month it’s been… FINALLY got my bike last evening and boy o boy she’s a beauty…I am a business analyst and travel quite frequently, hence the delay...
Thanks to a lot of guys here whose threads I have been following and have learnt quite a bit about the bike and riding in general.
I’ve purchased a GPR helmet for RS.1900, from Helmet Paradise, Bangalore…the dealer quoted Rs.2400 and we were able to bargain it down.

I did not get the user manual from the dealer as it was out of stock and will be getting it in 15 days…can anyone PM / direct me to a link where I can download it..I really feel one should read this before riding the R-15…

Will be posting pics over the weekend…planning a ride till Mysore on Saturday or Sunday..
                                Cheers,
                                S
