    4. If it will hold the air after the puncher, how long we can drive it before the tyre will be out of air.

    and most important of all.
    6. How will i know that the tyre is punchered (well i can come to know when it happens with tube tyres)
Firstly, congrats on your decision to buy an awesome machine! You'll enjoy it and treasure it like no other bike you've owned before!
Secondly, its not 'punchered' its punctured..!

Tubeless tyres are safer as they wont deflate suddenly on suffering a puncture. I've once ridden 700 km with 4 small nails in my tyre. Just had to keep filling air every 200km or so. It's not too easy to know when u get punctured coz u wont feel it at the moment. but once u've parked ur bike for a few hours, u'll find air has reduced drastically. How long the air takes to escape is directly related to the size of the puncture.

I hope i've given u some useful info!

    • OK, got it its puncture.
      thanks for the info.

So it means it can travel around 200 KMs easily even if it is punctured. right..
Then its ok as it wont stop in the middle of highway if it gets punctured.

Just ask the yamaha service center and they will do it, the cost comes around 1300 for both tyres and you wont have to think of punctures throught out the entire life of your tyres.
If we use slime won't it affect the performance of bike?
As per my understanding - it is a liquid that can be filled in tyres, when the tyre will be punctured it will be filled in the gap and will stop the air flow.
Correct me if i am wrong.

But it will increase the weight of the tyre, and performance as well as mileage will go down.

utkarsh I completely understand your point. But lets look other way around. When you booked R15, 2 months back, you didnt have a clue about the new R-series coming right. So you booked R15 as it is one of the best bike, in current market. SO you had your share of doing RnD out here in this thread. and once convinced you made a call. And which is very good decision as per me.

This year and coming years its gonna rain bikes and model upgrades, as the market is going to be competitive from now on, for which we are going to have many options (thats good for us). SO the only thing we can do is to narrow down on a bike and buy it, irrespective of if another model is gonna come in a weeks time, a months time or a years time.

And whatever it is, you need to know what you buying and why you buying it. I hope it simplifies your life a bit brother.

                      • DIY Engine Oil Change

Anyone here changed the engine oil of their R15 by themself?
I plan do do a DIY oil change, & need to know the process (including oil filter change).
Specifics with reference to the size & type of tools will be greatly appreciated.

                        My views on the YZF-R15 V2.0: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/198...tml#post699240

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

fairing upgrade is being done on a specific batch of Chasis No. of r15. You just have to send your chasis no. through email. or even if you have any good service center, whom you know preety well then they will take care of it themselves. I got my friends fairing changed. Though mine doesnt come in slot of changing the fairing.

Tibby- I have done it but then dont remember the exact specifications of the tools. when you do it kindly do it with pics so that we all can see. Thanks

warm up the engine before doing this

                            Oil Draining
its pretty easy, get a 19mm socket wrench/plug type wrench/ring spanner( make sure you DONT use an open type wrench. the r15 drain bolt is brittle and will break fairly easy) remove the bolt by turning it counter clockwise. a strainer and spring will come along with the drain bolt and its Oring. make sure to catch the oil using a pan. then clean the drain bolt, strainer and spring. if you are placing it somewhere then place it on a clean rag.

Fixing it back - make sure the Oring of the drain bolt is in its goove on the drain bolt. insert the strainer into the spring and place the spring on the inside of the drain bolt(strainer - spring - drainbolt. this must be the arrangement order). then with steady hands, fix it back. this is a tricky thing at first because of the spring, be patient and get the bolt in place and finger tighten it fully(the idea here is to save the bolt from cross threading and eventually stripping), you should be able to finger tighten it fully. then tighten the bolt using the wrench. here too care must be taken. do not overtighten the bolt. it WILL break easily. r15 drainbolt is not sealed by tention like in other motorcycles, it is sealed using an O ring. so you dont have to tighten the heck out of it.

                            Replacing Oil Filter
Oil filter requires an 8mm socket wrench. dont use an open wrech because it can strip the bolt's head. remove the three bolts holding the oil filter cover. remove the oil filter cover. there will be an Oring on the cover, make sure not to lose it. remove the oil filter. before fixing the new oil filter make sure to soak it in engine oil. then insert the new filter properly. make sure the Oring of the oil filter cover is sitting properly in its groove and then fix the oil filter cover. finger tighten all the three bolts and then tighten them using the wrench. please do not overtighten any of these bolts and try to tighten them uniformly, and you are done.

pour in the fresh oil and run it nice and easy for 2-3 kms or so(dont know the fact behind this, but it doesnt hurt anyone! so do it anyway). then you are good to go. check for leaks(there wont be any if you did it properly)

                            NB
Make sure you have all the necessary tools at hand. if you dont have any idea about tightening torques then please dont do it yourself. try to do this while placing the bike on a paddock stand or a center stand. protect your hands from getting burned by the hot oil or the exhaust. make sure to clean all the removed parts. any soil particles got into the engine will cause eventual trouble.
