Hi guys, firstly let me introduce myself. I'm svjhonda, and my real name is Sagar. I was pretty much a silent reader in this community, but I guess its time now to share with you guys...
I finally got what I've been dreaming about for 3 months. With gods grace, I am a real proud owner of a shiny black R15.
I may be undeserving, maybe not. But anyways, the bird is in my hands now. I sold my 3 year old Unicorn to buy this bike. I really want to thank my parents, without them this would not have been possible. Firstly, they understood my passion for biking, and also stood by me when I asked them for a 1 lac rupee bike. And even I'm working for it, I am doing a side job along with my education and putting in my entire salary for the bike. As we had decided earlier, I have to return a share of the money.
Hmmm... now to tell you guys, it feels like I am living in a dream. I actually dreamt about the bike and me riding it, taking a long sweeping corner on many occassions!! Used to have butterflies in my stomach even while asleep!! And not its finally mine.
Just wish to thank xbhp, where people shared so much information, which obviously I'd been reading up prior to the purchase.
I got it three days back, so bike is still very newish, and am not taking it above 6K rpm. Its really difficult to resist, but anyways, I'm holding on till the first service.
Any comments, advice, suggestions welcome, and if there is any stuff I need to do for the bike, tips, etc post them too.
Thanks a lot, cheers, and ride safe brothers!!
picture

Donno if its visible or not, but the 'R15' sticker is white with 'lc4v' written in red. Looks better than the golden one, IMO.You get the point?? :D

Congrats
Congrats Sagar, most of us have also fulfilled our dream (atleast in a small way) with the R15. You're right, keep her below 60 (or 4K RPM) under 1K kms.&you'll have a smooth ride thereafter. One word of caution: DON'T change the rear tyre! Go through this thread&you'll know why
. Keep her clean&shining (you can get a teflon coat for longlasting shine too). Wish you many happy&safe rides!

Longlasting shine? Pardon me for being an ignorant, but can you tell me a bit more about it? I had heard of teflons only.Originally posted by R15Rocks View PostCongrats Sagar, most of us have also fulfilled our dream (atleast in a small way) with the R15. @All,
I got the tappet valve adjusted this week end. The vibrations from engine has gone down( not completely, the mechanic said it's due to the improper running in).
One thing which I felt after that is that the bike struggles a bit to go beyond 9K even in fifth gear. Is the valve adjustment has got to do anything with that or am I just feeling it

^^ santoosh these are side effects of using the high wattage bulbs, i am running on 2nd set of head lamp assembly on my Xtreme bulbs used mico 100/90."Engine tuning is not an exact science, but with some practice and patience you'll get comfortable with your skill and be able tune for any conditions mother nature throws at you"

Was expecting this from someone sooner or later... guess this is the reason why I was suggesting the Silver Star over the Night Breaker... The head light assembly costs Rs 2100 if I remember it right and we're getting it screwed by paying Rs 1600 for nightbreakers. Not that Silver star is great and that it won't hurt the reflectors... just that it won't harm them as much/as quickly as the Night Breakers do.Originally posted by santoosh View Postusing 60/55w and my long Night Rides , the Reflector has started to get Discoloured...

BTW, the reflectors & the dome compartment of R15 headlights is much smaller than in other bikes... so more heat in lesser space... you get the equation....
Now, HID's say they don't generate much more heat than the regular Halogens... gotta see the feedback from someone who's using the 35W HID's that is either 4300K or 6000K output and no more than that.
May be the tappets are a bit tight after adjustment... would need a few hundred kms again to set right. Or be safe, take ur bike back to the SC.Originally posted by sk8er_joe View Post@All,

Yeah, thats why I took it from Venkatesha. As for the accessories, Pearl has quite a few, except the seat cowl&tank pads, which I took from Venkatesha. I got a few others from Bangalore last weekend, like the LED Position lights etc.Planning to get them fit in a couple of days when I go for my 3rd service. Digislayer was asking for pics of those, will upload in a couple of days.Originally posted by HydBiker View PostGud. thought Pearl have got stock again but looks like they haven't!Quench my thirst with gasoline!

Lack of Spares
@Archi/anyone else who speaks to Yamaha higher officials: If anyone from Yamaha happens to call you, please report the lack of spares to them. I have been waiting since more than 2 months for a lock set. Everytime I remind them(2 showrooms at Hyderabad), they say one week, but it never comes!
I have seen some other accident vehicles waiting for a long time for the radiator too (looks like they had blown it up during a crash)!

Iv been using 130/100 on my pulsar and have changed the reflector 8 times :-) . I knew this would happen within seven 8 k kms on r15 . So its ok . Im using both night breakers as well as silverstar. Both generate same heat.
