So the one that we are looking for should be around 160 or so.. Ended up buying a brake shoe for the rear This is the second brake shoe change in 16k kms1. Literally there was no braking power so got to change it. It will not make much difference anyways
Oh did you ask them when they would get the hugger? The rear brakes are quite useless. Actual stopping is done by the front brake only all the time. The rear just helps in maintaining stability i guess. I use it that way.

I wanted to know how to tell the Bajaj showroom spare parts shop to give me all the required parts for installing a rearset? Would they know what all to give me or do i have to know all individual part names/number? I have seen pavanmachirde's rearset thread and saw part numbers but there was some bushing also for which he had not written down the part number. What about those kind of parts? I do not want to run around once the bike is stripped in case i do this mod and then a part is required during the process.

The mechanics over here are completely useless. They don't even believe that a rearset can be installed on a 150. They were talking some bakwas reasons. I'm thinking of going for this mod this weekend but i need to get the parts ready tomorrow itself in that case. Kind of skeptical if i should go for it or not. Already spent a lot till date on it.

I am not so much interested in this mod so dint ask further. Even i don't rely on the rear brakes but yesterday just escaped from a crash when i was doing 88 kmph at a clean stretch. Braked hard and the bike neither did stop nor did loose its track Actually my rear brake has worn out completely and i know the new pads are not much of help in braking. Had it been good i could have stopped the bike bit earlier. And the he TVS tyre Suc*s it keeps on skidding every single time.

Reg the rear sets, i too have been in the same state, the mech was not sure it will fit on P150. But i told him my friend has done it without any probs. So he stripped down everything and started to fit the rear sets and it dint fit directly, due to its length the edge had hit the shocks and the mech said it cannot be fitted. Finally he addressed me to a guy who does these kind of modifications. I pushed my bike all the way to his garage and he asked 650 rs. I had no other choice and got it done from it.

The reason why it hit the the shocks is i forget to buy new swing arm bolt and bush or say washer

All i would say is get all the parts i mentioned earlier before you leave bike in workshop, nothing more needed.

      • Also don't go for any welding works on exhaust. It will change the angle of exhaust and so the position of center stand. Now in my bike, center stand hits the speed braker when riding with heavy pillion. Get two simple metal clamps , one for holding the exhaust and other for saree guard.

Oh, where does this new swing arm bolt fit in the bike? Will i have to move the swing arm also? Can you show me a pic that shows how the swing arm bolt helps stopping the rearset from touching the shocks? (Only if its possible)

I was thinking of fixing the exhaust and center stand issues by welding. Is it bad for the exhaust? What if i paint the exhaust with a chrome paint if rust is the only issue. Will it help? The metal clamps sound easy but in your bike are they strong enough to hold a person's weight while they climb on the bike using the saree guard?

Will i have to change the long brake rod that actuates the brake near the wheel drum? Or will the stock brake rod be enough? Oh boy, so many questions. Hope i don't seem like a question bank here. lol

The red color is swing arm bolt and the yellow is the place where it was hitting the shocks. But it wont hit if you get parts of P180/200/220. Just ask the set( stay bolt , nut and bush) of p180. they will give you correct ones.

Yes thats the proper idea. Fix the stand issue by welding. Even i feel like the metal clamps wont last when the weight applied but you have no other option. I will remove saree guard after some days so thats not a prob for me Dont forget to paint the welded place on the exhaust otherwise it will get rusted soon.

No you dont want to change that rod. But remember , get only P180/200 s brake lever not P220. Because it is for disc brakes. I bought P220's brake lever for its looks but only when installing i came to know and did another welding for it

                    • Where did all the P150 users go all of a sudden?
Are there no more P150's in India?

No, you should not use clutch while braking. Infact, during run-in period you should accelerate every gear upto 4000rpm and upshift. While you want to down shift or brake just let the engine braking come into play first, then apply brakes accordingly. Declutch only at the moment when you want to upshift/downshift like when you're close to a speed breaker or something. The key to proper running in is to let the engine encounter various rpms at each gear and this won't happen properly if you declutch all the time to brake.

Ride safe and don't rev the bike more than 4000rpm at least for a 1000km.

Change the engine oil thrice till you reach 1000kms, like at 150km, 750km and then at 1000km. After that you can increase the drain interval between 1000-1500 or more based on the engine oil you choose. You can use the service center oil itself for the running in (But change it as mentioned). After the 1000km mark you can use the engine oil you wish to use. Motul is recommended by most of the people here.

@All, If there's anything else important that i missed, please let sudarshan know.

Congrats sudharshan, its not about speed its all about engine rpm, keep it below 4000k. As ab47 said use clutch only when the bike is slowed down or when changing gears. If you hold the clutch immediately after releasing accelerator, the bike would not stop. (Not safe). I have posted a link regarding run-in process, go back two pages and you will find it. Ride safe

+1 to the bold part. This is how i use the clutch.

3rd oil change can be done after 1500kms and drain interval of 1500 kms for mineral oil would be perfect IMO.

Its good to see this thread active after a loooong wait Thanks to ab47

Thanks for your advice ab47 and prabakar really appreciate it..... I have touched 700kms now, but did not change the oil yet ...

The service center guys are not taking in my bike stating they already have too much bikes.. I have to go to their showroom tomorrow at 6am to get my bike serviced....

I wish I was a mechanic, so that i can service my bike by myself instead of replying on others.....

One big doubt guys... I work at a callcenter and work at odd timings, I find it hard to go early to bajaj service center to get my bike serviced, so can I use Castrol Bike Zone to service my bike... They also have pickup and drop service.... could you tell me your views about Castrol Bike Zone, is it good? hows the service there?

                            Hie Sudarshan,

I hope your bike is running fine. You did not post any of your immediate post purchase experiences.. We were wondering all the time if you had seen the answer to your question (the proper running-in tips) or not.

Anyway, I think it would've been really good if you changed your engine oil at least now. Just changing the engine oil does not even require a mechanic. You can do it at your home or if you're not comfortable go to a mechanic. Its hardly a 5 min job for them.

And regarding your Castrol Bike zone query, Yes! It's really good.
I give my bike at castrol all the time not only because its near to me but the work they do is near perfect. I never like the way Bajaj A.S.S treated our bikes.

Don't take my word for it, just randomly pick any guy you see giving his/her bike and ask him/her how they do the work. the pick-up drop thing i do not know. i guess my Castrol bike zone does not do that (Not sure). Check and then decide on it. Which days of the week are off for you? CBZ works on sundays also. they have wednesday off. (My Castrol Bike Zone)

Cheers and keep coming back for more posts/queries.. People here would certainly help you out as far as their knowledge goes.

I guess you need to first check by using another spark plug or better buy new spark plugs and test your bike.

If it does not solve then we might have to dig a little deeper. Probably any issue with the cable? Check and let us know.
Many other experts here might also help you.
