Correct.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostEven mine is scrapped on left side. Looks like no point in replacing it.
Actually i had went to svc this sat to get it replaced along with the crash guard. They didn't had this in stock, the crash guard cost me ₹650.
I will be doing some work on the bike in installments in coming months. Tyre and crash guard done. Next month will he front fork O.H. and maybe after that get the O.H done to swing arm (which is actually long over due).
Ride safe and have fun.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
These high flow air filters are nit meant for our dusty Indian conditions. They do let more air in as the pores are much larger than the stock filter. But this lets more dust through it and this acts as slow poison for the bike.Originally posted by ALI.R View PostI used to think these genuine K&N ones perform better than stock.. Totally a Noob but isn't getting more and cleaner air into the engine preferable?

Just removed the 'end bar weights' from left side of handle. To my surprise, it is a punny piece of plastic and nothing else.
Can anybody shed light on it. Had read that, the end weight generally help in reducing the wobble / maintain straight line of vehicle at high speeds and also act as balancer's. Not sure how would this act as balancer's
. Weight of same is next to nothing.
They are indeed handle bar end balancers not a decoration part. These balances reduce the vibration by avoiding the handle to resonant in a particular frequency. it is not always required to be heavy. Perfectly tuned handled bar requires a very less weight balancer to avoid vibration.
Cheers

Ohh.. Is it so.Originally posted by accuengineer View Postbalances reduce the vibration by avoiding the handle to resonant in a particular frequency. it is not always required to be heavy. Perfectly tuned handled bar requires a very less weight balancer to avoid vibration.
But these are so flimsy and don't weight anything. Also i haven't found any difference in vibs after it broke on one side.

Yes, agree. But, if you remove and weigh them, it is negligible and doesn't account for any weight.Originally posted by accuengineer View PostHai

That is the beauty of Yamaha Engineering. When a pipe or tube is open at its ends it tends to resonant more than a tube which is closed at its ends. If you analyse the balancers. They are designed to grip the inner ends of tube rather than directly bolting it to the tube like in Bajaj bikes. When the handle bar resonants at a particular frequency. The wave or the resonances starts from the centre of the handle and moves towards the ends amplifying the vibrations. The balancers thereby restricts the vibration at the ends since there resonance frequency is different thereby nullifying the effects.

and ya, they hold the handle bar from the inside and are not tightly bolted or fixed to the bar.
I didn't knew about the amplified effect on bend pipes. Thanks.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
hello guys,
My yamaha fzs has the problem of black smoke through exhaust, vibration at the speed above 60 kmph , very low mileage of just 27 kmpl, jerks at constant speed, bad pickup.
I recently got it serviced last month and also got its oil and oil filter changed.
The mechanic is unable to solve this problems.
Please help.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
hi guys my bike has run only 6k kms but my bike gear shifting becomes very hard and bike behaves like unable to ride after riding for around 1hr continuosly. i thought bike heating may cause this , so i changed engine oil from yamalube to motul but still problem persists.dont know does all bikes behaves like this or only mine is faulty.
i will daily have to travel 20 km from house to office which generally take 1 hr 15min for me but after riding bike for 45 min to 1hr it feels sluggish to ride and gear shifting becomes hard.plz suggest me some solution if anyone already experiencing this problem.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Black smoke usually means the the AFR is extremely rich. And the problems you are facing are mostly associated with it.Originally posted by dhaval.panchal View Posthello guys,

Check the condition of spark plug to confirm. Also post a pic of it here.

If AFR is made lean then wont it reduce the pickup further??Originally posted by nadz11.ns View PostBlack smoke usually means the the AFR is extremely rich. And the problems you are facing are mostly associated with it.

the mechanic is constantly telling me to get the fuel valve replaced for black smoke and reduced mileage, but he is not sure that it will solve the problem and he said it would cost me around 2000-3000.
I will soon post the pics of the spark plug.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Who told you to make it lean. Keep it optimum. Running lean is more dangerous than running rich and also the mileage will be high with that, but at the cost of engine life.Originally posted by dhaval.panchal View PostIf AFR is made lean then wont it reduce the pickup further??

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
i am facing another problem when changing gear from 1st to 2nd and if i accelerate suddenly then bike feels like stalling(but it wont stall completely) and suddelnly it accelerate and moves..it generally happens in slow moving traffics..it behaves like how bike behaves with no petrol in...it only happens rarely but today happened two to three times plz help does any carb tuning required (this prob persist only for gear shifting from 1st to 2nd and all other gear shift works good).Originally posted by sanju47 View Posthi guys my bike has run only 6k kms but my bike gear shifting becomes very hard and bike behaves like unable to ride after riding for around 1hr continuosly. i thought bike heating may cause this , so i changed engine oil from yamalube to motul but still problem persists.dont know does all bikes behaves like this or only mine is faulty.

Yes, Carb tunning is required. I had this issue when I had a bad tunning, also check your spark plug.
