Recently in the last 3-4 days i noticed that my bike's transmission is acting weird.
I am in one of the higher gears nowhere close to the neutral i,e 4th or 5th and i dont touch my clutch lever cos i am not shifting at all and suddenly the bike acts like it fell into neutral and the rpm goes all the way to 9-10k rpm. Its like the bike shifted itself into neutral even though its not technically possible.
Anybody has any idea whats causing this? Havent faced it today though. Should i inform the ASC while i give it for servicing? And no oil filters available as of now. Can i delay my first service to whenever they get their stock filters?
Anyone? It happened again today while i was in 4th gear doing 65kmph
Bike just acts like it went into neutral and since i was accelerating on the stretch it just revved itself past 9k rpm even though there was no such change in my speed.

Went to the ASC for the first servicing. They told me they have no oil filter in stock so theyre getting one from nearby Udupi for me. I told them im not free this week and il get the bike next Monday and they allowed me to do so. Theyre gonna keep that filter for me till then. - Good news

Bad news- Contigo Sucks big time. Feels like im riding a snowmobile on ice. Absolutely no grip. 10 Mins ago i took a 90degree turn at a signal doing 20kmph and the rear tyre just slid completely sideways. Luckily all my riding experience came handy and i managed to get the rear tyre back into the straight without falling off the bike and creating a scene.

Goodnews: P.S. for anyone doubting on the ABS capability please note.. 15 mins ago as well as multiple times in the past 3 weeks ABS saved my life and my wallet Bigtime. I have no regrets now that i spent extra 30grand on the brakes

    • @Nithesh: Could your problem be ECU related?

Also, how old is the bike? The tyres take time to break-in. I have done 8k kms so far and I must say the tyres are absolutely awesome in grip now. off course, this is all on dry roads right now
ABS is good and I wish I could install it on my bike now, without burning a hole in the pocket.

After I got the front wheel replaced, I finally got a chance to check the handling properly and boy was it fun riding. 7.5k kms with a bent wheel really sucked, now that I have ridden with a brand new wheel

Fingers crossed,, hope it does not bend again!

BTW, the wheel costs 3.6k exclusive of taxes as applicable from state to state.

your gear retention lever spring is damaged or worked loose - not a major problem. but is a pain in the ass to replace as the gearbox needs to be opened to replace this.

this happens when you ride in high gears at low speeds for a powerfull bike.

basically, the spring lets go the "star" shaped gear latching plate and gets stuck somewhere between 2 gear slots.

not a costly repair (maybe PBK will replace it for free). but the gearbox needs opening for rectification...

          Is this the address.
I got what you are saying. I think you have a definite chance of getting a replacement.

The correct address would be - Continental India Limited

Call their regional office and fire them but politely and see how fast your problems are solved I do it every time.

I just saw your photo. The bulge is not very distinct but one can see where the surface around the hole has risen above the rest of the tyre plane.

Prima facie, it looks like a puncture to me but with a difference. The penetrating object is most likely a large nail which has stayed in the tyre and been repeatedly driven over. The nail may have weakened the surrounding structure leading to a local carcass failure - this causes the "pores" that you say you have seen.

Normally, the tread part of the tyre is the toughest and it is very rare to have carcass failures in this area. Most likely, this IS a really bad puncture. I would not be surprised to find the nail broken at the tread and bouncing around inside the tyre

Ahh makes sense. But considering theyre gonna have to open the gearbox do you think i should live with it for now(as it doesnt seem to be happening everyday just random) or should i go ahead and report the issue?
If i leave it as it is will it cause me any bigger problem?
