I feel that the Newer CBR's have softer seats than the first batch, does anyone else feel that way?

On my contigo tyres I used to get mileage between 34 and 37 kmpl
After changing rear tyres to dunlop its between 40 and 45 kmpl

Checked multiple times... tyres are of same size..

only explanation was tyre contact patch was more for contigo's than the dunlop's.

Thats nice. I chucked my 9k old Contigos for 120/70 front PSD and 130/80 rear PSDs. Weird choice of front tyre definitely but i don't see much of a difference. Have done only 100km so cannot comment on the pros and cons.

now.. thats interesting... ideally the FE should have dropped as dunlop is soft rubber compared to conti's (road roller metal) rubber.
but now 40-45... man thats like WOW... thats like thrashing all the records for MPG on a 250...
if thats true.. i am awaiting a tyre change.. i'd get em faster now...

bro ... 120's front ?? the honda front rim was ideally made for a 100 however honda gave it a 110 .. look and feel factor....
        but a 120 front ??

any change is the front end feedback ?

The front seems to be slightly heavier. Havn't pushed the bike or tried any cornering. My primary concern has been the lack of grip with the ContiGonowheres. Hopefully the PSD should solve that.
Running in the tyres as of now. Looks wise, it seems to gel in properly. Doesn't look oversized to my eyes as of now. The rear does look undersized though What with that wide rim.

the rims of the cbr .. if you check the specs and calculations.. are a perfect match for 100 front and 130 rear.. however honda gave a 10 mm extra.. as i mentioned earlier for the look and feel. bike looks bulkier....basically more sporty...

if you got a non-abs then at first service get the fluid changed to DOT-4.

buy TVS girdling DOT 4.. 96 INR bottle and half of it will replace fluid for both the cylinders...
              All right, thanks.

Hi, I have a new batch cbr, in terms of comfort, well it is okay, I did not ride any old cbr. But I can say that the seat softness feels similar to the old r15

I thought so !. Neighboring kid asked me , "Uncle, is your bike a sports bike?". I told "yes" !.
By the way, I already had rear tire grip issue two times -
                1. I normally do engine braking, before getting into a 90 degree turn for my exit from layout. Other day I felt rear saying goodbye to road for a fraction of a second. Luckily, nothing happened.
                2. Same day, while taking it out of parking lot, on the exit ramp, again found rear skid for a moment on engine braking.
Bottom-line still I am not sure of rear tire grip.
OT - I am seeing that typical 3 feet wide - 2 wheeler parking slot is not enough for elephant. Daily I see that left mirror is disturbed. Time for building parking codes to designate 4 feet wide to house CBRs and the likes with only kick stand. Grow Up please

                  Hi,
THe fuel tank cap, I understand it has two rims, the outer and inner, the inner being the plate and where the fuel goes in, to the tank, the outer one with a small drain plug, which I suspect is for taking out water, my query is that when I close the cap, the inner rim is closed snugly but the cap on the outer side seems to not fitting snugly, today when I rode in the rain there was water on the outer rim, hopefully there was no water inside the tank.

So is it normal to have a gap between the outer and inner fuel cap cover?
[sorry if it does not make any sense, I will upload pictures tomorrow to make it clear]

                    Hi,

Today I received my Black CBR C-ABS. I have tried to summaries my overall buying experience and Initial impression about the bike.

                    Decision Phase-

It all started in the December 2011. I was desperately looking out for a new Bike. With my budget in the range of of 80-90k I had finalised on the Bajaj Pular220F. But due to a sudden financial crunch I had to deffer the decision for some time.

Then came the Royal Enfield Classic 500 "Bug". I was so much into it that I had literally started to dream riding the Enfield with the roaring thump on the streets of Pune and probably across India.... But eventually with the unending waiting period, the inevitable happened. I came down from my dreams and started thinking practically. With all due respect to the Royal Enfield fans and their feeling towards the legendary Bullet, I came to a conclusion that C-500 is not a reliable bike for a person like me. I will not have that much time to dedicate for my bike and spend time in maintaining it. I was also afraid of the thought of a broken down bike while I am on my way to work. Trust me nothing scares me more than this thought.

Only one automobile brand comes to mind when you say reliability- "Honda" (Of course with pathetic after sales service). I have been using Honda Dio for past 4 Years and there has not been a single instance where I had a situation or a problem related to the engine. This experience made my life easier to decide on the Honda CBR250r. After reading multiple reviews about the bike(both +ve and -ve) I was fully convinced that this is the Bike for me. I had read so much about it that I din't even take a test-ride before making the decision and booking it. After a lot of confusion on the non-ABS and ABS and ABS I finally decided to go ahead with the ABS model.

Then started the wait for the financial arrangements.I had decided to buy in Cash only so it took some time to take the final plunge. That was the time when I was going through the War of the Colours. I have almost changed my mind thrice on each of the colours available. Eventually decided on the Black.

                    Booking and Waiting Phase-

I was finally able to arrange the entire cash and was finally at the Showroom thinking of paying the cash and taking the bike home. Life has never been so easy for me. When I went to the showroom and asked for the CBR ABS, they said it's not in stock. I was like OK, I will book it when can you deliver it? The rep said Honda is not supplying the ABS model any more. WTF..??? I said thats impossible you book my bike and I am ready to wait. They simply refused.

Finally I ended up at Shanti Honda where I had to convince the Sales rep that why should I go for the ABS model...!! After lot of resistance and convincing they finally agreed to book on C-ABS for me but with no commitment of delivery time. I booked my bike on 17th March 2013. The waiting period was painful. I had to pursue the Honda guys so much everyone in the showroom started identifying me by the name "ABS wala customer" . But I must admit that during the entire process the Shanti Honda guys were extremely polite and responsive.

                    The Buying Experience-

After a long wait of almost 3 Months I was informed that my bike has been dispatched from the plant. I made the remaining payment, submitted the documents and started waiting again. Though this was the shortest waiting period of all but was the most painfull. Every passing day was like a month and I was getting more and more impatient. Finally after waiting for few more days I received my bike today.

The delivery process was not up to the mark and I think this has been the norm so far. The sales rep was in a hurry to hand over the keys and see me off ASAP. Which pissed me off a little. There was no premium customer treatment. But anyways I took my time and inspected every inch of the bike before taking the delivery. There is a small scratch on the heat shield of the Silencer which the showroom guys have agreed to replace. After the inspection to my satisfactory levels, I finally rode my baby. This was the best feeling so far.

                    Initial impression-

                    Fit and finish-
Well mixed feeling so far. The finishing is not so superior but is at accepted levels. There are gaps in the plastic body parts but not so visible from distance. Most importantly there is no rattling sound at all so far. Adjusting the left side RVM is a little pain as it is a little tight. RVMs do vibrate a little.I haven't touched more than 80 KM/h so have no idea how will it be at high speed.

Switches are perfectly positioned and you will not have any problem finding it while riding. The quality feels good. Overall bike looks nice from a distance and and have no major fit and finish issues.

                    Ergonomics

Well I am migrating from Honda Dio so for the initial few KMs were painful for my wrists. Sitting position is a little towards sporty but after riding few Kms I am sure this will not be a problem. I am 6Ft tall and quite comfortable with the height and weight of the bike and did not find that to be a problem for me. There is a lot of space at the front seat and one needs to keep shifting to find a perfect position. The gear and the break paddles are comfortably positioned though I had a problem finding in which gear the bike is running as I am not used to 6 gears.

                    Ride and Handling-

It took some time for me to get used to the riding position of the bike. But once I got used to it I started enjoying it. Suspensions are very plush and takes on the bad roads comfortably. But if the road is very uneven the bike tends to jump off, I was little surprised to observe this thinking how can a bike weighing 167 Kg jump off like a splendor so easily.
Handling is superb in straight line. The rear Tyre tends to lose traction on turns which does not inspire confidence on the corners.

The Brakes have been perfect so far. Although I did not get the opportunity to test the ABS, not that I want to. But the nose still dives on sudden braking which gives scares to the pillion.

I will wait for the running in period to get over so that I will be able to exploit the full potential of the bike on the highway.

                    Engine-

The best part of the bike. Its just amazing to feel the roaring engine trying to jump off at the every possible opportunity. You need to control your adrenalin to maintain the rpm level at 4-5k. The engine wants to be exploited to its fullest capacity. The throttle response is amazing especially overtaking in the city traffic is a breeze. The exhaust note is also good. Gear box is not so smooth hope it will get better with the runnin period getting over. Overall I am fully satisfied with the engine.

                    Conclusion-

Buying CBR has been a very long journey for me. It is one of those things which gives me the sense of achievement and pride. And I am proud that I made a decision to buy CBR. It's been my dream to own a Sports bike, but being a middle class boy it wasn't so easy. Though CBR250R is not a complete Sports bike with thousands of CCs and hundreds of BHPs but it's a practical bike which gives best of both worlds. You get your dream sports bike with a commuter like ease of riding. I think it is been the best bike launched in India so far and I would like to congratulate and thank Honda for giving us such a great product.

I know this is a long and boring post with things which have been repeated a thousand times. But I can bet that every CBR250R owner would like to read, write, speak, hear about their ride about a million times and they will never get bored of it. I am attaching few pics of my ride hope you will enjoy-

It is normal in CBR to see a gap between tank cap and tank. As long as you hear that small click while pressing it down after a fill, you are OK. Also there is some play if you press it in the sides even after closing it properly. Start appreciating these gaps

Welcome to the "extremely lucky folks club". Wish you great rides ahead. By the way, most of the dealers stock non ABS and that may be the reason they always push non ABS version. After a test ride, the sales guy told me that "for your speed ABS is not needed". Didn't try to correct him - Teacher in me is sleeping (stars indicate that guru in me is old in current phase).

I guess its because of the contact patch or area of the tyre rubber on the tarmac.

If you watch carefully.. you will notice that the Conitgo tyres are less curvy than PSD's or MRF's or Dunlops.
This will inturn result in the illusion that Contigo tyres are fatter than the rest even if they are of the same tyre size.
