  • that's the brake pad spring.
what makes you think that it needs replacement or there's something wrong with it?

just looking at the photo i can tell there is enough brake pad material in there.

put the bike on a center stand or just lift the rear wheel off the ground (using the side stand for leverage) and give it a spin.
do you still hear a squeal or is there too much resistance (a little resistance is ok)?

i bet there is nothing wrong with your bike. stop worrying and start riding...

About Ganesh Yamaha: I've heard couple of reviews...not so great, not that bad either. BTW, it doesn't matter either. so chill
About PDI: As you've got the list already, there is nothing more to check.

P.S. Please get the Bike's manual while taking the bike, many people didn't get that on time and were facing issues about run-in and so on.

          Best wishes and welcome aboard
Thanks Man! I guess I got the pre-ownership jitters... I wanted to know any new other pointers I need to keep in mind while getting the bike...About the manual, I'll keep that in mind.
BTW, do they provide the manual after booking the bike or while delivery??

Bro I had same problem with squeaking coming from front brakes. The service centre guy first washed it with high pressure water jet. The sound didn't go so he then removed the pads and rubbed it with sandpaper. I was charged rs100 for that.

              • Could somebody throw a light as to what exactly should the engine oil change interval be? I service my bike every 70 days as I dont complete 3000Km [since the last service] within that span of time, 2000km are completed within 70 days. Should I be changing engine oil every service[every 70 days] or only when I complete 3000km from the previous oil change?
The manual does not specifically mention every 70 days or 3000km whichever is earlier. It only mentions oil change at every 3000km, but the service interval is every 70 days or 3000km whichever is earlier. Hence the question.

Now every basic servicing includes your engine oil change. So as long as your warranty period is not over, you should change the engine oil every 70 days or 3000kms whichever is earlier.
After that, you can take the 3000 kms to be the limit which in your case may be 3 months or so, that would not be a problem.

I am rushing to the workshop tomorrow for the oil change. Hope this 13 day delay wont cause any significant pathology. Thank you for putting an end to this endless confusion about the oil on my part

not great. will be shifting back to sprint. went there at 7.50 AM, stood till 8.30 to just let the guy arrive to my bike (mine was 9th bike there at that time). he was taking ages to finish one bike. i was sitting at the waiting room seeing the developments. i was shocked when other bikes which came after be being serviced. to my horror my bike was scheduled for service between 2-3.30! :eeek: this really pised me off because i was supposed to get my bike at 12. got my bike at 4 pm. was there at the SVC whole day. polishing was done, but the white substance was left in many places, they didnt clean the oil that put in the keyhole. i was not told about the disc o/h and was charged around 300rs for it. clutch o/h was done 250 rs for it. overall my bill was 1548rs. this further added to my woos. as i had got shell oil for 341 rs, i had though the service bill will be less then 1k max including the 350rs for service charge (it was my 7th service). i had to hurry after i got my bike just checked whatever i could and left since it was 4 hours delay already. found out today morning that a little deep scratch as left on my engine casing :/ again pissed off. over all 3/ 10 rating i will give.

Earlier at sprint i used to get my bike within 2 hours max. work done infront of me. friendly service guys there. the max time i used to spend there was till 11.30 even after coming there at 9.30 on any day.

Went for ride yest, saw so many superbikes. 4 R1's, 1 R6, 2 BMW S1000rr, 1 Gixxer, 3 FZ1's, 2 busas etc etc and harley group.
