Here's one more pic, after getting rid of those broken pulsar logos and the 200ns stickers. I think the stripes gel better now.

Beautiful. The stripe work and the tidy tail.. neatly done.
I heard those 3D Pulsar logo cost around 1200 a pair.. not worth spending on.

Wow, it took them 2 years to come up with this direct fit air filter. Will take some time for this to reach our local shops.

The duke 200 comes with steel braided brake lines, one of the reasons why they say it is better responsive.....Can it be installed on to our bikes? Is it worth doing so? Any insights?

Okay, as in the update given a couple pages back, i had some issues... To get them fixed, i got some work done on the bike in the past two days... Thought ill share my Experience.. Initially went to the Mysore SVC [Star bajaj: Steer clear of them, mechanics are ok.. but most service attendants aren't so they end up not doing many things], since i knew a guy there.. But the new manager there was seriously retarded and said no freaking way to me bringing my own oil.. He was so rude that i told him to SOD off and directly went to my trusty mechanic, Mr. Chand..

Went to the mechanic said i had noise issues.. and viola, he said he'll look into it and so i left it with him.. Went a bit later, and i saw this

And then the major work began... Since the cam chain was the suspect, we had to open up the head.. And i'd already done 30890kms so i thought ill de-carbonize the head too..

So out came the oil, coolant etc.. And down came the engine..

For someone whos not seen an NS engine, they knew how to take it down pretty neatly and fast!... Of course knowing that he's worked on bigger engines was one thing that was making me breathe fine... He knew how to dimantle the engine better than even Auto service in bangalore.. [Ive seen them scratching and boiling their heads when i had to change my rocker arms, they didnt know jack shit about the engine, 3 mechanics where huddled together, with the ninja mechanic telling the other two how bolts might be placed *facepalm*]

While the engine was coming down, i went to admire the bike kept inside for some minor work..

Anyway after a while the head was out, so was the piston.. While the head had gone for lathe [de-carbonizing] I saw the condition in which all engines work

The piston was covered in hard carbon deposits. But this is actually how normal pistons look right out of the engine..
A bit of acetone and hard wiping later, this was the result,

Meanwhile the head had come back, along with Mr. @niladri [ Who had been observing during his (many) breaks from his office nearby], who had gone off to the lathe with chand bhai. It was done in one of the best lathe works in Mysore..Even super bike heads come from Bangalore for porting here it seems.. [ don't remember the shop name, sorry :P]

[could not take 'before' pics, as they had already sent it for lathe while i was out for parts..]

There was a very satisfying POP noise as you ram the valves into their ports.. Workmanship was amazing..

And then out came the cam chain.. It really was the culprit.. The slack on it was crazy, makes me think of what quality check bajaj did on these.[fingers crossed for the next one to last longer]

[held parallel to he ground]

By then it was nearing 9.30 PM, so we packed up for the next day..

Next day, everything came back together pretty fast.. The engine was put back together in the same speed.. they cleaned everything they could find too.. Checked and tuned carb.
Got new coolant, new oil put in..
And by evening, she was back together!

One thumb, and she just roared to life.. A light purring audible and happily for me no rattly sound! It sounded as if the engine was brand new!
One test ride done by Chand himself, he gave me the thumbs up..
My turn, and boy how the thing leaped! She just flew from a standstill, smooth as ever! Came back, fixed and adjusted clutch and break levers to my liking, and finished off the rest..
And then onwards to home.. Very fast.. :P

It seems as though I've watched a movie of some sort, from your detailed saga, but glad to know you're back on track. You know there is always a fine line between what are called mechanics and who are called mechanics.

Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

THE END

Ok So i have finally managed to cross 1100 KMS on my new ns200... I tried to push it but with a pillion crossing 100Km/Hr seemed like a big task... Somehow I feel the power is not there... When riding solo its a bit better... the bike is fine and first service was done at 510 kms... Any ideas guys...

Heavy pillion will result the same.
Make sure you shift at higher rpms where the max torque is in each gear then it won't be very difficult.
I personally struggled a bit to reach 120 with 65+60kg rider +pillion .
And top speed depends upon the surface conditions including Air drag so check in varying conditions and also try riding a different NS and check .

• New set of tyres - Michelins

Hi fellow bikers,Just wanted to share that I upgraded my Eurogrips (aptly termed by many on this thread as "Euroslips") to Michelins after close to an year and 2 wheel lock related accidents last week. The change cost me 4500 bucks which included discount due to trade in. The tyres are soft compound Michelin Pilot Sporty both front and back. In the back I decided to gamble and go for a 140 rear section rather than the 130.The biggest difference I felt in the past week and 400 kms I have used them is the phenomenal increase in braking grip. These tyres have increased my confidence in braking exponentially as they do not lock up even under hard braking. I have always been biased towards the front brakes and had 2 major accidents in the past 1 year due to the front wheel locking up. Needless to say I was afraid to take the bike near its limits even on the highways. These Michelins have changed that. I finally got the reason why the tyres are such a heavily discussed topic on this forum.Kinda makes sense, all the technology in the world wont make a difference if its not being translated to the road via a good set of rubbers which ironically have a surface contact area of slightly more than the size of my palm! The con - I was prepared for this, the fatter rear section seems to have taken way a bit from the acceleration but not much. Even with a 70 kg pillion I reached 120 on the highway pretty darn quick. Mileage seems unaffected though I still have to check it properly.Cornering is obviously better on dry surfaces. All in all the change in tyres have transformed the bike from just "Atiila the hun" to Attila in an Armani"
Blood, Sweat and Gears - Enough Said.

hello my dear xbhpians,

I need your help with your valuable suggestions.
I'm 5 feet 11 inches with 82 kgs with a recovering lower back pain due to some disc bulge in l4-l5 vertebrate.

I ride 20kms daily with 300 kms in weekends with a pillon (sometimes with mr bro of 74kgs or with my girlfriend of 55-60kgs)

I previously had p180 for 3 years and p220 for 1.5 years.
Now the problem is my brother wants my bike and I have to get myself another ride.

My options are -

1) p200ns - i'm used to good power so more inclined towards it.(is it true that is not good for pillon and has stiff suspension)
2) fz2.0 - has low power but i guess very comfortable
3) zmr - imo new zmr has more aggresive stance

Want a bike having better comfort than my p220.
Also I would not like to go to service centres except on regular service time.

thank you
i'm really confused
how important it is to feel strong,
rather than just being strong.
