      Weird.

Surprisingly, my bolt didn't broke while accident .
But it broke two-times ,when the BIKE was parked on a safe spot ,with me wondering how did that happened. .?
Thankfully, 8 months and it hasn't happened ever since.

sirji, it seems your e-mails have much more effect on BAL, then rest of our e-mails.

can you plz tell them two more problems.

        (1) as is apparent from few posts above. the right side crash guard has a tendency to break off near the top bolt automatically on its own periodically. we are not able to understand the cause of it. may be vibrations, idont knw.

        (2) the tool kit does not have a spanner to adjust the rear shock absorber. it shoould be included in the tool kit. i even tried to purchase it from a very big and reputed service center (pune) based of the part number mentioned in spare part catalogue. but the spare parts guy was not able to order it from company because their software was not accepting that part number, as it is a toolkit part number.

Am very surprised to see that the leg guard / engine guard breaking off is a common issue with the 200 NS!! Mine broke off from the bolt & that too without any fall. Had ridden over a pothole ridden stretch of road for a few kms near Della Adventures in Lonavala & only realized that it had broken off when I returned to Mumbai and noticed the slight rattling sounds.

Hope Bajaj improves the quality of the guards as it could be a serious issue if someone falls with the bike and the guard is already broken before the fall. Could spell serious damage to the riders legs.

Can we fit another bike's leg guard to the NS that is stronger and lesser prone to breaking off??

It's not the leg guard which is faulty. It's the nuts and bolts with which it is attached.

I have had a couple of minor accidents, and fallen on the left side. The leg guard had bent, and the bolt had broken. So if it's getting bent, that's okay. That's how it should be. In case of accidents, it serves it's purpose a couple of times and that's it. It can be replaced, each leg guard costs 150+labour charges. So that's fine. But if they'd included better quality nuts and bolts, it would have been better. These nuts are very brittle. They should have used titanium. I know it would have been slightly more expensive, but that would have given the overall bike a better build quality.

We were discussing leg guard breaking off on its own.

Bolt breaking off when motorcycle falls is another thing.

I think you are not alone and other ppl have also experienced broken bolt after a fall.

                  Hi folks,

Been long time I posted here. After a ride from Pune to Bangalore, my 200NS engine has gone nuts. Its mileage dropped to 32kmpl from 41-42. I have changed oil, got the bike retuned from SVC. Now it dropped even further. The SVC guys are total useless bunch of idiots. I am quite fed up of them. In fact after the ride the bike has never been the same. The rear shock absorbers also seem to have taken a toll and feel very spongy and too much shocks for pillion seat.

Second problem that I am facing since a year now is a sound of break pads rubbing on the disk. Many trips to multiple SVC, changing break pads, calipers twice, and the problem is still there. If I only very gently press the break assembly (the golden color part) the rubbing disappears. The disc is definitely not an issue nor the rear tire seems to be out of alignment. They will lube it or something when i take it to SVC the sound will go for 2 days only to return back.

I am highly disappointed and dejected now. Is there a good mechanic in bangalore for 200NS that anyone here know of?? Please recommend. A visit to Bajaj SVC only brings me more headache.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference...

Maybe bolts were on too tight? Bolts tend to break when they are tightened above their torque range..

I've never heard of this crash guard problem till now..

Folks, will post a photo of my custom made leg guard for my Pulsar 200NS. it's in the Service Centre now so will click when I get it back.
which bring it me to why it's in the SVC. Went out for a ride yesterday in the hill side and when I returned back noticed the top of the brake fluid holder in the rear had been tampered with. Luckily, the top had not fallen off and there was min qty of brake fluid still inside. DipHeads!
in the SVC this morning was checking out the rear brake fluid holder on the new NS it has an extra clamp that gives extra safety so the top cannot be tampered with. Don't know if this has been mentioned because this is one long thread.
hope to post the pic of my Leg guard soon.

Yeah, falling with the bike is going to end up with broken stuff like the leg guards which are the first to make contact with the road but my leg guard broke off from the bolt without a single fall. Raises serious questions on the quality of materials used. These things shouldn't be just breaking off after a few kms on bad roads / off roading.

This is a common problem with pulsars
The service centre bums wont do any thing
You donot need to change the head cover/tappet cover gasket
Just take the back of a screw driver handle or the back of a hammer and wack the round part of the gasket in so that it presses tightly against the engine. If you cannot reach the top portion of it as the chassis comes in the way just put the back of the screw driver against it between the chassis and the head (round part of the gasket) and pull the screw driver towards you.
Wash off the old oil, test drive vigorously and keep pressing it in till theres no oil leaking at all. After doing this if oil still leaks, get the gasket changed.
I changed my tappet cover gasket for the same reason to find out later that there was more oil leaking than before.

the original leg guard are not strong and will get damaged in a minor fall. Hope the last pic is of a photo of a new Ns with the added bracket in the rear break fluid holder.
was trying to this at SVC but it is not even listed as a spare part even in the new ns catalog, was informed???
