I would recommend you write to the suzuki people through the web site. They respond very fast(atleast to my mail in 3 hours). Then you can go to the SVC and do the can test for mileage. This will prove to them also that your mileage is indeed less.

which SVC are you visiting Btw. Try a diff SVC if they can do something better.

I still strongly recommend that you dont try to change the carburattor setting on your own.

      • Thanks for the suggestion maestro and msn1. Will try to find osaram night breaker in my area. BTW is it ok if we remove the pilot lamp instead of replacing it with led. Also how can we connect the pilot lamp to dc.

Even though the 55w lamp wont be fully powered since it will be getting just 45w....then also the output is far more increased since the osram provides 100% more light as compared to halogen!!!

Buy one white or blue LED and replace it with the default bulb for rear license plate lamp ( yeah that too have the same specs of pilot lamp and that will be a direct fit ) with this you can save 5W more power.........hehehe

The pilot bulbs and license plate bulb are connected to the RR and by replacing them with LED, we can save 5*3=15 watts minus whatever is consumed by the LED.

But for the proper output of the Osram NB or any other 55/60 watt bulb, we need another 10- 15 watts.

Here, it seems, the only remedy is rewinding the coil with swg 20 or 19 wire and replacing the RR with a suitable one.

Actually, a well focused 35 watt halogen bulb is enough in normal riding conditions. Here, in our bike, the reflector which does not focus the light is making the problem; not the bulb.

Hundreds of GSs have been sold from the show room here and almost all owners have this complaint about the headlight but, it is a pity, Suzuki is not listening and trying to rectify this problem by re-designing the reflector as in the case of fuel tank.

I have tried 35 watt bulb of Philips, Halonix and Osram and finally fitted Osram NB which gives a little better result though not satisfactory.

I have rewound the coil with swg 19 wire but not sure about the RR to be bought.

Not needed. No one is going to steal anything from your bike.

Use Piaggio Ape RR, if not available then Bajaj GC1000 RR or TVS KING RR.
In absence of all of these the only good RR option available is that of Pulsar 220F.

But the performance of the RR decreases from Piaggio to Pulsar.

I too have heard about Ape’s RR and was planning to buy it if I finally decide to replace the coil and RR but hesitating due to some other reasons.

1.I am totally against HID. So planning to use the same Osram NB which adds 25 watts load which results an increase of a mere 2 amperes out of which about 15 watts can be saved by replacing the position bulbs and number plate bulb. I am to try this replacement with LEDs.

2.I am sure about the output of the coil and the proposed RR but not sure about the intensity of the light we get even after all these pangs of modifications as the reflector being the same.

The same headlight problem was with my Fiero when I bought it in 2000 but a replacement of the stock bulb with a halogen bulb from Halonix was enough to solve it. But here, everything is different and I am feeling helplessness.

(Self wound. First attempt and hence this “ultra neatness”).

I am ‘extremely sorry’ to point out that YOU ARE CORRECT.

EDIT: The number plate bulb is connected to the RR.
