oil goes below L mark after riding few kms because oil inside the engine compartment was splashed every where and spread across all the inside parts of the engine, so it needs some time to settle down, more engine oil compartment is not a proper shaped (not conical or cylindrical or square) so it needs some more rest time to come down to show approx (yes even though some little bit oil got struck in nook and corners)

after turning off the bike leave it for 4 minutes then ask your friend to hold the vehicle vertically on a plain surface

then see thru the glass window and refer the reading.

I have had only one oil change till now. which was done in between sevice at the SVC in front of me. Then never opened gaurd since it is fitted with bolts which hold engine with the chasis .
oil was everywhere on the guard. i cleaned it later.

I feel the side view of the bike is better with an engine guard

Remove it if it is obstructing free flow of air to the engine case.

          Biking is in my Blood!!

          • I've driven my bike 664 km after purchase on 12/10/2011. My bike is doing very very well in all aspects. Only one small issue I am facing from day1. After starting the bike I am hearing a mild metallic sound from the bike. The sound is like ting-ting-ting-ting-ting................The sound is present during idling and in any speed and in any gears. The sound is felt or heard by the driver only. With the increase in speed the frequency of the sound increases but intensity remains same. the sound is periodic and like a rotating metal part hitting some metal part continuously. The sound does not bother me but it is better to know whether it is OK or not. Or rectifying such problem in SC with bring new problems (fuel economy, more noise, vibration etc.) to my wonderful bike. Can any forum member throw some light on the strange sound?
            Regards,
            Partho.

            • that noise is felt with all the suzuki gs 150..the tik tik sound is coming from catalytic converter. this case only applies if you hear the sound after turning off the vehicle..
Life is not measured by the breaths you take, but by its breathtaking moments.

              • The tik tik sound after switching off the bike is one phenomena I'am aware of (may be due to contraction or catalytic converter). But the ting ting sound which I'am facing disappears when bike is switched off.

It may be from the automatic decompressor in the bike. If so, slightly increase the idling RPM. Other possibility is the chain hitting the chain cover. Check the chain slackness and get it adjusted.

heard from few that SMK is one among the best dealers in chennai.

                        Engine oil
For a New GS say no to synthetic or semi synthetic, in your case its good to go with the default oil (aka SVC oil)

                        • I have a strange problem. All would have seen a bike with a bent spoke wheel when you go behind some unmaintained vehicle or a vehicle engaged in an accident.

                          The back wheel wobbles, right.

Today during usual cleaning, i noticed the same in my bikes rear alloy.

It is bent and it is clearly visible when the wheel rotates. But when i drive, there is no wobbling.... ! Covered 3550 on my way to office now. Booked for second service at SMK this Wednesday. Hope they fix this under warranty.

Never ran into any big poth holes on road. But still this happened. Maybe it was my ignorance for the past 55 days....

And has anyone seen a Intruder on road... ?

Today i was riding next to an Intruder from Porur for almost 6 Kms.. The exhaust sound was similar to a bullet.. It was a MH reg bike..

Almost all people on road were looking at the beast.. My feelings of riding next to that guy can never be typed here...

your alloy wheel issue sounds strange at least for me
To the best i know Alloy wheels never bent they may develop minor cracks and will break down it to pieces if it was a major accident

Congrats dude for the awesome bike . I too have the same question which is eating my mind . Is the New GS more refined than the previous one?.
The Suzuki Guys at the Showroom say this.
I guess the owners of the new bike may have a answer to this.

I too have booked the Greenish Blue GS last saturday in Mumbai.
Hope We get our baby Soon ))
