The companies instruction is to change the oil in every alternative services i.e., in every 4000 kms and the filter in every alternative oil changes i.e., in every 8000 kms.
It is true that the oil need not be changed within 4 k kms but most of us are replacing it and filter in every 2000-2500 kms. (My first oil change was at 946 kms and the next was after 2805 kms at 3758 kms on odometer).
The usual servicing is washing the bike with the cheapest shampoo or soap solution, replacing the oil if needed and pouring a few drops of oil on the chain and nothing else.
I too favor the frequent replacement of oil and filter though its benefit is not proved yet. Buy the oil you like from a trustable vendor, filter from the sc and change it yourself. That is the best way.
For the sake of warranty, do a nominal servicing without washing and oil change at the sc.
Thanks Vishnu, the reason I asked this is because during my first service the service center guy asked me to keep changing the engine oil every 2000km .So was a bit confused whether to follow the manual or the authorized sc guy
.Also should I be worried about the average that I am getting now or will it get better in time??
Now the average is 42-45 .
