guys a small problem...whenever i brake applying back brakes, a sound comes from the ABS unit near the engine. as if something is choking it. and feels as if the rear wheel gets locked (brakes as on a normal 180 ) front ABS works just fine. what could be the reason???
P.S. ABS doesn't show any error( the notification light shuts off after the set 10kmph)Just your friendly neighborhood panda. @thebigfatlazypanda

Hi guys.
Have been off thread for a long time as my bike was suffering from poor maintenance by me and some side effects of performance mods.
Have got most issues solved and decided to go on a ride to Lavasa (near pune). Another rider with a Tbird 500 was also with me.
Posting some pics
This really seems to be a season for crashes.
While approaching one uphill curve, I heard a truck coming down full speed, horns blaring.
To be safe I moved to the side of the road and let it pass. I move onto the road after it had passed but suddenly found the rear almost lift up and throw me off. I was confused for some time what had happened, till the tbird rider said that maybe due to the truck's high speed the draft created by it may have been too much to my light bike.
Anyways this reaffirmed my belief in wearing gears as the armored jacket's fabric tore slightly at the shoulder but thank god I was unhurt.
So guys..I learnt three things..
1.Be careful of fast moving heavy vehicles
2. Always wear your gear
3. Always wear your gear
Take care & Ride Safe

May be the mech didnt notice. You need to press both buttons(in console) simultaneously for ~30 seconds to turn that off.Originally posted by Satishrajdev View PostBefore servicing when i crossed 500km Servicing Indication was started to come in speedometer, but after servicing also same indication is coming, tsite:xbhp.com keyword -> Google this to dig up stuff in xbhp faster

Hi All...I have doubt regarding brake fluid.
How this brake fluid helps in providing good braking for the discs.
Will the breaks be less effective if the fluid is less?
What happens if we start using disc brakes with almost dried out brake fluids?
Today I was feeling my front brakes a bit less effective.
I was riding the bike after 5 days as I had gone to my native place.
I checked the brake fluid levels & its console shows full reddish.
Don't know if its the color precipitation on the glass console after the fluid dried out.---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Re: TVS Apache RTR 180
Pictures would help. Yes, good level of brake fluid is required for good braking, since it Is the fluid powering the hydraulic reserves of the disc brakes.Originally posted by susheelkumar View PostHi All...I have doubt regarding brake fluid.

Understood..........Originally posted by kantu View PostMay be the mech didnt notice. You need to press both buttons(in console) simultaneously for ~30 seconds to turn that off.
But, whether it is happening because improper servicing???
Or any other reasons???If you ride like there's no tomorrow... Don't worry there won't be !!!!

Its not because of any improper servicing.Originally posted by Satishrajdev View PostUnderstood..........

Normally these consoles would have been fed with some static values like at this much kilometer of ODO reading it should flash the service light.
Sometimes your odo reading matches with your servicing date, I mean you give for servicing the bike once its starts flashing service light.
So the SVC mechs only will do the reseting stuff.
In short there is nothing you need to be worried about it.
Follow the steps suggested by @kantu.---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The new one is compact and thus better handler. Leaned more than I have seen my friend on his Electra.Originally posted by kantu View PostHow was the bird on highway ? What was the top speed ?
It was running in (had 120 odd kms on odo) so didnt cross 70. Acceleration is also great and was easily in pace with me.

To stop the wheel, friction material in the form of brake pads, mounted on a device called a brake caliper, is forced hydraulically against both sides of the disc. Friction causes the disc and attached wheel to slow or stop. So good braking depends on the amount of pressure applied by liquid, lesser the liquid lesser the pressure.Originally posted by susheelkumar View PostHow this brake fluid helps in providing good braking for the discs.
YesOriginally posted by susheelkumar View PostWill the breaks be less effective if the fluid is less?
Brakes will be less effective or not effective at all, but chances of this happening are rare, as Dot3 liquids (red) the ones we use have long life unlike Dot4(clear liquid)Originally posted by susheelkumar View PostWhat happens if we start using disc brakes with almost dried out brake fluids?
Check brake pads, when was the last time you replaced it ? Also hows the health of discs ? Do you see any rings on disc ? whats the thickness of the disc ?Originally posted by susheelkumar View PostToday I was feeling my front brakes a bit less effective.
