Dont worry about the Battery drainage dude. People are using stock battery for projectors, without any issue.Originally posted by albyjose View PostStock tvs tyres!

Hope you must have checked, if the bike has any outstanding installments or not.
Anyways, heres a trick for you- Take all the cash, say to him, I have exactly 43K , I will pay you right now, if you sell me at that price. If he agrees, your sweet deal would become sweetest. But I still say, 45K is a real deal. get it man, before somebody else take the cakeHH Dawn - TVS Star City - Yamaha Gladiator - TVS RTR 180 - Honda CBR 250R - Yamaha R3

@Alby - my bike is also Aug 2009. If I get 45k I'd be overjoyed. Then again considering it has run just under 30k, the price seems reasonable. BTW, projector is just a piece of glass (lens) so its not going to adversely affect the batter or electricals, its the light source thats to be considered. As long as its running a halo, nothing to worry about. Yeah, the rust (look wise) of the exhaust at the manifold side is common and nothing to worry about. If you have any trusted mechanic, take him with you and ask him to check out the bike, take a test ride. If you buy it, replace that ****ing TVS tryes ASAP and you are all set. All the best!

And yes, projectors alone will do no harm. As long as the bulb is a 35watt, you're great!

Re-posting..Originally posted by vivekgautams View PostEnded up doing a bit of "footpath" riding & was forced to jump onto the road.. The height of jump was around 1-1.5 ft with a pillion..Now the front wheel wobbles & pulls left at low speeds. Went to a TVS SVC & got the front handle "adjusted", But was of no use as usual
..What could be the problem..?? This wobble started after few hundred km (400-500) after the jump.. Could it be the alloy..??
I'v noticed a that the disc & pads are rubbing & make a soft sound..
I had posted recently about my bike leaking oil & that "re-threading" was required.. Now the re-threading has been done, the re-threading charges for one Bolt is INR160..Rode the bike for ~100km after the fix & I'm speculating that the oil is still leaking..What else can be done to stop the oil leak..??
Guys any thoughts on this problem(s)..

1. Please do not ride on the footpath. Just think of yourself walking on a footpath (which is meant to be safe walking area for pedestrians) with someone you care about and then a bunch of morons thundering down on to your path over the footpath!! 2. You make a jump of 1.5 ft with pillion, did you expect nothing to happen? The steering cone balls must be damaged. Give it to mech/SVC and say the symptoms. Shouldnt cost much to fix.
3. Make sure that oil is still leaking. Clean the entire area with diesel/kerosene/petrol, wipe clean, and then verify the leak. Also, if the leak is minimal and not affecting the reservoir level to drop drastically, its better to leave it like that instead of opening up the engine again and undergoing the headache again. It can be done later when and if there is a real requirement to open up the engine!

The foot path nonsense was done by a friend (a fellow xbhpian, don't want to mention his name), had no idea of what kind of trouble he was going to land us into..After the incident he replies,"It was an emergency, was getting late for exam".. I'm a responsible ride & I have never done such "off roading" or have put others life at risk.. But I do share half of the mistake by letting others with little or no sense ride my bike..Will ensure such riders are not entertained..
I had given the bike to a SVC & got the handle "adjusted"..I don't know what exactly was done or what the mechanic was trying to tell me..But I think there is no problem with the bearings/cones.. Can the tyre/alloy profile get damaged & change its shape??
In ~6k km, FS oil level had dropped to 400ml..Is it a serious leak or can I just leave it..??

FS oils are known for dropping levels after some long rides. Go for Semi-synthetic ones & see if the issue continues.Originally posted by vivekgautams View PostThe foot path nonsense was done by a friend (a fellow xbhpian, don't want to mention his name), had no idea of what kind of trouble he was going to land us into..After the incident he replies,"It was an emergency, was getting late for exam".. After the re-threading work the SVC accidentally filled the amazing TVS TRU4 SS oil, even after I asked them not to change..Still the leak is just as before, the only difference is the bikes vibrations are also back..I reported the leak to the SVC, they have asked me to leave the bike for a quick fix..Fingers crossed..!!Originally posted by susheelkumar View PostFS oils are known for dropping levels after some long rides. Tank is designed to combat wind resistance which can hold up to 16 liter of petrol with 2.5 liter as a reserve. Aggressively angled Tank Cowl reduces engine heat by a Spectacular 10 Degree C. Engine Coil is Perpetual Motion Styling Aerodynamic Razored Design.
Split Grab Rails
The Bull Horn grab rails are splits and ergonomically designed to aid the pillion rider in holding on tight. The grabs are designed based on input data taken from thousands of palm types and grab holding styles to achieve an optimum blend of design and functionality.
Aerodynamic Airs coops
The 2012 RTR comes loaded with aerodynamic air scoops that not only ass to the design but also ensure air is directed towards the engine unit to help better cooling efficiency.
Sculpted Digital Display
The blue backlit Speedo Console pack is enough too get the attraction, with info like two trip logs, Max speed registration and time added beauty to console. It also record the fastest lap time from 0-60kph. Digi meter is nicely integrated with analog rpm meter. Console also shows 5-4-3-2-1 GO asap it’s turned on.
Tail Lamps
leading from the rear led tail lamps. LED’s are more powerful and ensure hi visibility in all weather conditions and are also as consume less power from the unit. TVS has integrated LED Tail lamps very beautifully personally its Tail Lamps are best compare to any vehicle.
Engine & Performance –
RTR engine's is capable of generating 17.03bhp of raw power Short stroke/low-end torque, its the Best-in-class Power-to-Weight Ratio, so the First thing you will notice is the torque, very good low & mid range torque, can zip up to 60kp/h in as less as 4.0 Seconds. Be it City or highway torque stands out, it’s like a raging bull. Comes with 5 Speed gear box which always make me miss the 6th one, I always felt the sixth gear is necessary. But Bike is always ready to red line engine on each cog you can feel Engine power in every gear. Very short gear ration which help’s in acceleration & will keep you on top gear very quickly. RTR read as Racing Throttle Response, & yes it does stand out on his name. Twist the throttle & disappears. To sum up The TVS Apache is one fun-to-ride motorcycle in its class. . Coming to Vibration part now, asap you cross 4,000rpm you will start feeling Vibration on foot peg & handle bar till 4900rpm, & then again surprisingly it comes back after 7,000rpm. But this vibration isn’t a very noticeable compare to older models but the presence cannot be ignored too. Though a bit loud & well tuned deep-throated exhaust note gives fair idea about power. Be it from Standing Still to 60kp/h or Cruising at 100kp/h or Zipping through traffic apache does it easily & without much problem. RTR has got no REV limiter too.
Engine Oil which is used by Service Centers are TVS Tru4 Premium which Semi Synthetics, lots of controversies & criticism been made over this topic & oil, but looking at it’s price I personally feel it’s decent Engine Oil which can be used till Engine Run in period atleast. I personally prefer Shell Advance Ultra FS & Motul 10w40.
Over all TVS Team say’s it’s a menace so does I.
”Acceleration is real fun as it’s a Racing Throttle Response”

Brakes & ABS:
ROTO PETAL FRONT DISC BRAKES 270mm, & 20mm REAR DISC, of brute-force brake power Enhanced Heat Dissipation. Brakes really give confidence to you while riding at any speed, & disc look’s attractive too. It has been said Apache has one of the best brakes available in Indian Bike manufacturer.
Apache 180 is available with ABS too as an option (Which I personally feel should be mandatory in every bike), which prevents wheel locking & skid. This ABS system has been developed in Germany, & has been fine tuned in India. ABS comes with ABS Switch too, to turn off it whenever you want, which I would never recommend unless you wants to lift your rear wheel. ABS technology works fine as far as detecting and preventing panic situations is concerned. I personally rate it much higher & it’s really a wroth of paying those extra 10,000 with closed eyes.
Handling:
Handling of Apache RTR series is simply awesome, very easy handler. With Light weight around 137 kg you can easily zip pass other four Wheeler in traffic with ease & the wild torques backs you up there too. Cornering of RTR is fun easy to bend on either side at any speed. Apache is known for its quick handling and rev-happy engine ready to take abuse. Though bike can be leaned easily but Tires are disappointment in this bike, gives heart in a mouth moment sometime. Width of tires is increased compare to 160cc. TVS Apache RTR series is launched with tubeless tires with the specifications of 90/90-17 at front and 110/80-17 at the rear respectively having six spoke alloy wheels. A mono tube inverted gas filled shock (MIG) with spring aid at the rear end with Golden plating looks very eye catching. The all new TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS can also make its presence felt at the race track because of features like late braking, faster exits and incredible stability. This technology is more common for passenger cars but it is something that is new to Indian two wheeler industries and will make the riding experience safer and better.
Touring part is personally dependent, a Rider can ride his Chetak to Ladhak, can tour for 5000km & same rider can comfortably tour on ZMR too, but Apache is specially design for Race Tracks but that doesn't mean it can’t be on tour. I am personally using it for Touring as well as Daily Commuting too.

Conclusion :
- The Best in Class Power to Weigh Ratio
- Veritable pick up, Twist the throttle & disappear, two words for Pickup "Simply Awesome"
- Good Brakes with additional option of ABS
- Very Light Weight help in traffic, Ease of handling.
- Noteciable vibration in most of the rpm's.
- Pathetic TVS Servicing.
- Truculence Design, including ODO, Tail Lamp & Head lights very appealing for youngster specially
- A Loud Exhaust which gives a fair idea about its power & torque.
- NO issue riding up-hills.
- With Pillion bike seems to be under powered.
- Good Mileage compare to power it delivers.
- Short Gear Ratio.
- Loud Exhaust which gives fair idea about power.
- Slippery tyres but good in curves & cornering.
- Lack's top end.
- Over designed ruined the look compare to old apache series RTR.

The alloy does get bend, but not for a simple drop from a footpath. See, I've many many times been too fast on unmarked speed breakers, unable to brake in the wish of self preservation and taken them at full speed. Since we have the tyre and the air cushion in between, most of the shock is dissipated there. My point is, they do not get bend so easily.
I guess the SVC guy just tightened the steering column cap..whatever it is called. Ideally, it should be disassembled and inspected if all the bearing balls are intact and replaced as a set if required. Sometimes tigheting that cap will solve minor issues, but not real fix.
Hey, always keep a tab on your oil level. Since you have oil level dropping, its better to use Semi-synthetic, at least till you completely fix the issues.

Only wish is that the 'jumper' reads your post, might knock some sense into him..
Went to a tyre shop yesterday..He claims that the tyre profile is "gone" (he means got bent) & the tyres need to be replaced to stop the wobble..The tyres have quite a bit of treads left & might last atleast 5k km more..Should I get the tyres replaced or go for a proper inspection in a SVC & get the alloys checked as well..??

Hi All...recently my bike is giving pretty bad mileage max(40kmpl), performance lag(like taking time to attain speed, kind of lost its RTR character)...I did all experiments like changing spark plugs, cleaning air filters cleaning carb but still nothing much attained...Yes I do rip my bike at times but not much as mostly I do city riding..Normally I shift gears at 4k rpm & max will goto 5.5k rpm during city riding...I know my friends who ride worser than that but get better mileage than me..Now the only option left for me is decarbing the bike engine...The odo reading is just 18k in 2 years...I dont want to open the engine head as I have heard it will cause problems later as the SVC centers are not that good enough to do it & it wont work as good as factory fitted ones leading to oil leaks etc...So I'm kind of dilemma on what to do...Please give some suggestions on this..It would be really helpful if those who have already done the decarb of engine give their valuable feedback on this..Last edited by susheelkumar; 01-16-2013, 06:11 PM.---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes. Last time (December) when I went for servicing I said the same cases & asked them to check the TPS. Later they called me telling that they have changed the TPS as its having some issues. Just after servicing the bike was kind of smooth so didnt check much. Now a few days back I started feeling the performance (mainly pick-up) lag issue back.Originally posted by madhav766 View PostHave you checked the TPS? Except mileage, the symptoms point to that.
