When the clutch plates are worn then
"as you revv in a gear, you will notice that the bike is not speeding irrespective of your RPM"

An easy way to figure out is to see if the bike is doing less speeds at the same RPM.

On a stock bike with stock tyres, it does 83Kmph @ 6K RPM in 5th Gear. <For the black back speedos>

Just see if it is doing lesser speeds than that now.

Btw, since you have changed your tyres your Speed Vs RPM readings would be different from that of a stock tyre.

        • My bike's silencer is making some weird "metallic" sound when it runs for more than 10min (i.e. when the engine/silencer becomes completely hot). This sound comes at various lower band rpm. It seems like it comes from beneath the engine where the cat-con is attached to the silencer. Already shown to the AutoService PBK in Bangalore, they said the silencer is touching the chassis and hence pulled out the silencer a bit away from the bike by force, but that surely did not fix the issue. I can clearly make out that the silencer is not touching the chassis (near the cat-con).

When I switch off the bike after coming from a ride, and hit the silencer with my hand, the sound comes.... but after 2-3min... it does not make any sound. Also it does not make any sound when the bike is stationary (like on a signal) and engine is on (being revved).

Any idea what might the issue be, I have checked the cat-con and it seems to be fine (nothing loose). The 'Can' seems to be fine. Its not the heat protector shield that is loose.

Anybody facing/faced the same issue with their bike...... kindly let me know if there is a solution for this other than replacing the silencer .

The sound is of cat-con. cooling.

I don't think there is any other solution than replacing the silencer. I got mine changed @20,000 kms (Don't remember exactly) under warranty. Now even my bike's silencer is making that same noise. The silencer was touching the frame. The PBK guys did pull out a bit but the noise is still audible though bit less. If your bikes silencer is making a good rattling sound as if some nut has come off inside, then I should say that you get it replaced ASAP. If under warranty, then they would replace without charge, otherwise be ready to shell out 6.5 grand :P
nahin toh.... let it be like that...if there is thora bahut of ratting noise

The only thing weird is that you don't get it in standstill/idling!!! Otherwise I would have said your silencer has gone for a toss.

Meet me sometime, lets have a look at it!

I hope you have checked the heat shields if they have somehow come loose and the plate right above the exhaustec box?

@abhichotu.abhi: This is not the metal contraction sound that comes after a riding the bike for some distance!

                  Ok! sir i understood it
Just gave my thought as a metal clicking(cat-con cooling) sound is audible in my bike when i switch it off.

i also had the same problem, a mettalic sound as if something is loose. in my case it was the small screw on the front of the exhaustec resonator chamber. i tighten it and it was gone . check that screw as well .also check the top of the resonator chamber, there is a plate with 2 screws.this is all that i can say.

                    • Accidentally my friend dropped my bike...it has fairing scratches, both the front indicators have lost their plastic transparent cap..but bulbs inside are intact...

i have scratches on the exhaust heat shield... i need paint touch ups to be done on the fairing... does PBK do it ? i dont find anything else wrong on my bike... doesnt handle different... no wierd wobbles.. everything is ok or i think so.....

when coming back from my friends place i noticed one thing.. while riding in 5th gear at 55 to 60, i depressed the clutch...
i felt this odd catchy feeling in one of the tyres...

one small ex.. :when our brake shoes were worn out unevenly and kept rubbing against the rim of our bicycles , they kept rubbing against it intermittently.i had this feeling.

the crash was a very small one..bike fell to the right...
was pulled for 2 feet... crash guard has scratches and is bent by a few degress, right brake lever has scrathes,

how do i mend everything ? and moreover my chain was badly muddy... not a single drop of chain lube due to dust...
is that also a reason for giving me the uneven feeling ?

visually nothing is out of place..

Put your bike on the main stand & rotate the front wheel. If it seems to you that at any particular part of the revolution it's getting slowed down, then check for bent disc. You may have to replace the disc plate then. Rs250 - 300 I guess is the cost

AFAIK, cost is around 1000 bucks or so.

                              1. PBK does repaints to the fairing. I had mine done a year back! But it wont look like the original!
                              2. The weird catchy feeling is weird. Is it from front or rear? Get the caliper unit removed, service and put it back. Check if the tyre's beading has slipped inside! Chain not being lubed should not give this bad a uneven feeling, unless the chain sprocket set is royally f****d!
                              3. Take it to a PBK they'll mend it for you! Why bother, claim insurance if you want.
