Today checked the oil level in morning after 10 kms ride then waited for 5 minutes- just dipped the oil stick ( without screwing it at all ), oil level was marginally up than the lowest level mark then, when I screwed oil stick fully, level was between upper and lower level mark. Am i doing right way? ( last oil change was at 1300kms now its 3200kms on odo.

Park the bike in center stand .In ZMA/ZMR after taking out the filler cap/dip stick , wipe it clean and then place it on the thread WITHOUT threading it, and then take it out and read the level .This is the way the engine oil level should be read.

Again checked oil level as you suggested in morning....warmed up engine at idle for 5 min then waited for 2-3 min. Without threading the oil level was at lowest mark and with 2-3 turns threading, level was between upper and lowest level. I am feeling little bit worried. oil change interval- 1) 500km , 2) 1300km, (1000km trip started from 2200km and now odo is 3200km) now today am going for second service. Riding continuous at 90-100 speed consumes more engine oil in new engine also?

Oil Level should be checked Not in 2~3 minutes of riding....Take reading 15 minutes after stopping engine ,so that oil in circulation will have chance to come down to crankcase .Move upto 10w40 or 15 w 40 or 20 w 40...the how and benefits had been discussed to death before..

i m looking a buy a new ZMA-R/Impulse soon (just sold my CBR) and I came across a dealer with 2012 model ZMA and Impulses in unsold stock with 0 kms in odo. The on-road price of a new ZMA in Chennai is rs94K. Impulse on-road price is not known as it is now discontinued - it was rs77K odd in mid-2013. Any suggestions on what price that I can bargain for..esp the Impulse.

Done second service today in front of me. Drained oil was around 850 ml. I think I am over possessive to my steed.Everything is fine.Engine mounting bolts were loose and mechanic tightened with torque wrench, now no vibrations at all.

tomorrow going to 2 days trip to Agra, will do Agra-Noida-Agra on Yamuna expressway.

850 ml is actually less. When bike parked with center stand and if you remove the drain bolt, you should be able to drain 900 ml. You can drain around 1L on side stand with slanting the bike right and left. How much oil they filled in? Did you check the oil level after the oil is replaced? I remember last time the mechanic found a loose engine mounting bolt. Didn't they tighten the bolts a that time? If they did, its strange why did they get loose so soon?

Got some spares from ASC today which i ordered a month ago.
1.Crank peep hole cap(allen key type)- rs 109
                          2.cam sprocket(upper)- rs 66
                          3.Drive chain guide- rs 34
4.Crank peep hole cap o ring- rs 6
To my surprise the crank peep hole cap was over sized so i just changed the o ring. The only reason why i bought the allen key type is because i thought it could be tightened well than the old type cap.Click image for larger version

Yes the Video explains how a CV carb works,....except that the throttle butterfly in ZMA does nor open inwards,ie., Clockwise...It rotates Anti Clockwise...It is so in most carburetors.

What was the quantity of engine oil you filled and what was the drain interval in Kms. If you had filled 900 ml and done 1,500 Kms and had 850 ml when you drained, it is normal.
Calculate at approximately 1~2 ml of oil per liter of Petrol used .

My zma had a rupture sound from the engine. I gave it for repair at the ASC and they changed the cam chain, cam chain guides, cam chain tension-er, tension-er lifter and gave it to me but the problem still persisted and it was only resolved after the crank shaft was replaced along with the bearings. But I Still doubt that the problem was resolved only because the replaced crank shaft has a new cam sprocket and that might have made things right. Now the upper cam sprocket is the only one which is not replaced in the set and i dint want to take risk with the old sprocket making the timing go wrong because it might not sync with all the new parts. The old drive chain guide was somehow misplaced in this repair process so had to order a new one.
