@chiku - when the pads were being installed, did they slide smoothly on the pin? and the lock pin? were the calipers cleaned properly before installing the new pads? Generally some muck or dust between the pins or in the caliper will cause the pads to wear out un-evenly

Ya the pads slid in smoothly and they locked the pin, the calipers were also cleaned. Both the front and the rear disc pads lasted for 17k kms.Originally posted by jd666 View Post@chiku - when the pads were being installed, did they slide smoothly on the pin? and the lock pin? were the calipers cleaned properly before installing the new pads? Hi..as far as I have come to know, Indian made R15s and Yamaha FZ (its called Byson) is being exported to Asian countries...infact I think like many manufacturers that was the plan..to use India as production hub..

@krishnakant_r15: I can see moisture droplets in the headlight, but I don't think they come from the front. They might have come from behind. I guess you should take it easy as long as water is not floating inside, don't replace anything. The few moisture droplets will dry on their own.
I see moisture droplets in my speedo assembly too, but that also dries within a day.
@HydBiker: Venkatesha says the manufacturer is the same for the new brake pads as well. I hope the full synth oil is out&the brake pad pricing dispute is also resolved by then. I have 800kms.to go for my next service.
@Sarvajit, Water doesnt float inside the headlight but its just moisture getting accumulated on the glass but from inside. But the thing that worries me is that the moisture gets in only the right side whenever it rains. This was not happening before. And yeah it dries out in a day.
Btw, i got the parts yesterday and i am very much relieved now. still i didnt get the black side panel, the one with R15 written, thinking to put panel of the new black colour instead of that !!
@all : I changed my rear disc pads recently the newly priced ones for 690. I saw that the old pads were worn out unevenly (1 was completely worn out to the extent that the metal part was touching the disc, while the other was only half worn out). After putting the new pads, i had done a 500km trip and now i notice that the disc has become black in colour. Help me !!2009 YAMAHA YZF-R15
I hate people driving fast, thats why i overtake them !!!

Bro please check the the rubber hose thats just behind the bulb which has to be removed for replacing the bulbs also sometimes called as dust insulator, this is the last thing where air comes in contact with the headlamp assy. probably this is leaking some water inside. please make it sure that its all right.Originally posted by krishkanthr15 View Post@Sarvajit, Water doesnt float inside the headlight but its just moisture getting accumulated on the glass but from inside. thanks bro for the pics even I was wondering , about the uneven wearing of disc pads. by the way how did you come to know that you have had to change the disk pads, is it the thickness (visually) or there is some difference in breaking and its feel altogether.Originally posted by chiku181 View PostThe "Nissin" embossing is there on the rear disc pad. Here is the pic of the rear disc pad.
Notice that there is uneven wearing of the pads. At one end the thickness of the pad is greater than the other end. Is it normal???

The brakes had lost their bite and there was an unusual metal to metal contact kind of sound coming from the brakes when it was applied...Originally posted by PRATIK322 View Postthanks bro for the pics even I was wondering , about the uneven wearing of disc pads. by the way how did you come to know that you have had to change the disk pads, is it the thickness (visually) or there is some difference in breaking and its feel altogether.
You will get to know about it from the feel itself....

@ JD- see, that's what I was talking about. The front pads didn't have Nissin embossed. The rear calipers and pads have.
Anyways, it doesn't really matter. As long as braking is fine.
@ Pratik322- bro, you'd better remove the pads and check the markers. If they're worn, replace the pads. You get the point?? :D

Those flaps have been removed a number of times in my bike by me&others, to refit the parking lamps, LEDs etc.Originally posted by PRATIK322 View PostBro please check the the rubber hose thats just behind the bulb which has to be removed for replacing the bulbs also sometimes called as dust insulator, this is the last thing where air comes in contact with the headlamp assy. probably this is leaking some water inside. please make it sure that its all right.
Take it easy, just push the flaps in well!
@All: My R15 has turned 2...on July 3rd. I gave her a good wash, wax&chain lubed&off to Hyd International Airport for a high speed run!
This bike never fails to bring a smile on my face.
I will write a long term ownership report like the others, once I get the 2 year end service done at 18K kms.Quench my thirst with gasoline!

guys...
happened to have my first fall today....
guy in alto overtook me and he stopped the car suddenly!!!!! i was behind him... tried to use the front disk at full throw but the handle was a lil turned and the bike skid...lucky to fall on the road side
also kucky to escape without any injury, except for my fren who was the pillion (skin on his thumb got peeled off
)
immediately after lifting up the bike i ve seen the 'engine trouble warning light' flashing...bike din start for some time, but i turned off the main switch n after some time switched it on(din see the warning light flash again)....it started normally...
now, is there anything to worry? shud i take the bike to the SVC?
secondly the R15 sticker on the right panel is visibly scratched!!! where can i get a new one? SVC or showroom?

Prior to this I have completely bleeded the brake fluid and some abs stuff as you know, I mean I know only that much about Brakes , so will I be able to do it on my own?
