This might have been discussed earlier. I bought a used CBR 250R yesterday. I didnt notice it at the time of purchase. But the blue light in the instrument console doesnt work. And the bike is out of warranty. Is there anything I can do to fix it or should I replace it? How much would that cost? Has anyone done any DIY workaround? Please help.

that led inside had failed. showroom folks wont do it and relplacing the console will cost you a cool 6k .. so see if you can get the led's fixed outside.
however if there is no light at all i assume all led's wont fail together it can be as small as a wire disconnected.

Guys, the weird neutral switch problem is back with a bang.
Usually when the ignition is turned on the neutral light doesn't come up, pulling in the clutch and starting sorts this issue, once the bike starts moving and then is put into neutral it comes up as normal.
But now a days during evening time , when i try to start with the clutch pulled in, it doesn't start again.
Now the bike seems unreliable, but once i get it to start(push start or some other method) the neutral light starts working and behaves normal for the rest of the trip, until the next day the same stuff happens.
I did get a response regarding neutral switch being loose, but would like to know if its easily accessible that I can fix it on my own ?

Oh..also, what is the first start idling rpm for you guys, now a days i notice the rpm spike to 3k rpm for about 30 sec or so. I do not remember this happening before.

          Cheers

I've experienced this; I don't know the exact solution, but its not serious & can be fixed something to do with clutch lever or cable or both. ASC did the job for me.

                Pls try this...
                1. Start the bike & leave it alone...not even a blip of throttle, for 30-45 seconds on outside temperature of > 25 degrees or more (if its less then pls idle for a minute or until you see 1 temp bar to be on safer side)
                2. Without opening the throttle, release clutch gradually & then once the bike is in motion (7 Kmph in gear 1) open the throttle & ride normally
                3. If #2 & #3 doesn't help, pls check the output of the battery + check all the leads of battery with a good battery service shop. In my case, this erratic RPM shoots was due to weak battery lead

                Last but not the least...
                1. Pls get the fuel filter & tank cleaned by ASC & use fresh petrol & most issues should be sorted
                2. Do #1 for every 15000 Km (HMSI says 18000) to prevent such niggling issues

When the bike is regularly running, from a cold start early morning rpm on my CBR shows 1700rpm then it settles down to 1500 after 20 secs.

If the bike has been standing for a week or 10 days and Its started it hovers between 1700-1900 rpm and settles down to 1500 after 30secs

The only time It shoots to 3k or beyond is when I don't idle for 30sec after cold start & immediately pull the clutch & get the bike moving

                      Hi aargee

Yeah, the issue isn't serious, the bike works totally fine, just that when this neutral light is not on when in neutral, sometimes the bike refuses to crank even with the clutch pulled in. And that means dhakka start, which I absolutely hate, so this weekend will sort it out.

I always idle the bike for about 1-1.5 min religiously, I only move the bike when one bar is seen on the temp gauge. I do not even blip the throttle during this time.

I think point 3 should be checked. battery might be getting weaker, bike was lying unused for quite some months and now its having daily night rides too, so will get the battery checked, the bike is getting almost 2 years old. But all other electrical like horn and lights show no sign of power loss.

Btw, the 3k idle rpm is only during the morning startups and that too not a regular phenomenon, on any other normal day it idles at a tad above 1.5k, hot engine idle is about 1.5k rpm and is stable,

Yes, you see i did have the same hunch, i guess the neutral switch not working is playing havoc here too. Since the bike is on and the neutral switch is off it might be sending across the signal that the bike is moving and thus the ECU(ECU controls the idle rpm limit , correct ?) might be raising the idle RPM to 3k.

Let see if it happens once the neutral light issue is sorted out.

                      Cheers

Do the ASC have the copy of RC book of your CPR? If not, pls don't show them otherwise they will reject the warranty claim. Also be glad they replace tensioner under warranty as they're not usually covered. You've a good ASC to back you up

Yes, it looks so as mine was also replaced after 2 years & had crossed 50K on ODO by then but I had issues when blinkers + headlight + horn were used at same time. There was a dip in the output of headlight.

Yup, my pulsar 220's battery also died after 2 years.
