• Re: Pulsar AS 200 Owners Review and Experiences

Finally took my bike out for a highway ride... 1,424 km (Kolkata-Bhubaneswar-Chilika-Daringbadi and back). Other than the lack of grip from the Eurogrips and back-breaking suspension on bad roads, I didn't face any other issues. The engine does sound a bit gruff after those extended 110-115 km/h runs, but I'll see how it feels after the next oil change. Touched 133 km/h indicated. Don't think it would've done more - the bags add some drag, and I'm overweight.
Next up - Kolkata to Sikkim, end-Jan :P

390 has so many issues but I think Bajaj will figure out something.I have never seen them cutting corners on crucial things which might hamper the bike unlike 390(bike stops and refused to start etc etc).even d200 is no exception.
With Bajaj as usual ,unlike dukes they won't have that killer initial but that's always good as I like that sedate driving.
Built quality I think would be good coz I haven't faced any build quality issues in my AS200.
Fingers crossed [emoji5]

Guys, Just to clarify...

AS200 is a wonderful bike, is just that it didn't suit me. I learned to ignore small niggles since one cannot expect everything to be perfect when Bajaj is somehow managing to get such a machine at a very good price point!

10 years back, a 1.05L would get you a 17bhp machine which had to be handled with care else it would bite you back with huge maintenance cost. Now at athe same price, you get a ~23bhp machine with double disc, better handling etc...etc.. So there are bound to be few niggles.

The main reason why i sold the bike was coz of my bad back. It kind of wired, i was ok with the sporty riding posture of R15 and CBR but the moment i get back AS even with softest suspension setting with lesser tyre pressure, i get a bad back with 10kms of riding. I don't know why but i didn't want to take a risk with my body. Thats why i sold it. I don't think i'll buy any other bike in near future. Using my Figo for now.

Bike is wonderful on the highway. Even a guy who switched from a Speed triple to my As rode it happily for 60kms and at the end of it, he liked it very much!

So stop worrying about it, test ride the bike if it suits you and then take a call!

Nice one satish.ya it happens and the suspension is actually very hard.
Give your body some rest and then go for a good bike which suits you well, probably MOJO coz I really liked the rode quality of it.

No tank bag - just a knapsack from a local mountaineering kit-making outfit in Kolkata, which I carry in front of me with the straps around my shoulders. There is an additional cross strap, which goes across my back and can be tightened. Pretty convenient. The last knapsack I had bought from them lasted me 9 years (I use a knapsack at least 350 days a year).

The tail/saddle bag is a Viaterra Claw. It's reasonably big and can be mounted/dismounted in less than two minutes. Two straps at the front and one at the rear. Doesn't move around at all, but the straps do get loosened a bit from vibrations on seriously bad roads. Easy enough to tighten again.

Just one thing - I'm 5'9", and getting on/off the AS200 with the Claw in place is... awkward. You need to park on level ground and somehow swing your leg over the rider's seat. It's like having panipuri - there's no graceful way to do it :P

Viaterra's website seems to be down, but here's a review - Viaterra Claw review - The luggage King. - RiderZone (I agree with their verdict).

I didn't take too many pictures on this trip... but if I find some nice ones, I'll post them soon

Guys.. Having weird problem with my NS front disk brake. When I push brake suddenly, pressure is ON and brake is working but when I press brake progressively(slowly), No pressure in brake hose and brake is not working. What would be the problem? Done bubbles bleeding, changed new pads.

Either master cylinder or slave cylinder is loosing compression ( worn piston seals ) .
On sudden application it is able to hold some pressure, but on gradual application the pressure is leaking past seals which equals to no brakes.

Solution = Inspect and replace .
If under warranty then its good. Even out of warranty wont be hard on pocket. Barely 500/- job
Carb Tuning made easy (Thanks Sibun !)

If you're buying a different brand, please make sure that the bulb will fit the holder - the SVC guys said that holders vary widely (I know nothing about the subject, so this statement could be wrong). Ideally, compare the new bulb to your existing one and see if the grooves match.

My projector stopped working at around 4,500 km. Got it replaced by a standard P220 projector bulb, as I couldn't source an upgrade. The projector's brightness is down by around 10% compared to the original bulb. Gotta live with it until I find a better bulb in the same 55W range. Any suggestions?

The projector model uses h7 socket. May you check that. The non projector one might use H4, not sure though. xplod566 might help here as im aware he has been looking on it for some time.
