btw guys is it ok to cross 4k rpm before the 2nd service (ie the 2.5k mark) ? if so whats the safe max speed or rpm that i can go without harming the engine ?
Yes, it's OK to do so. But, use the throttle gradually (slowly build up speeds) till 5000 km. This will ensure best fuel economy and performance from your bike.

Constant redlining will harm the engine. Anything below that is not much of a concern for the short stroke screamer mill.

The safe max speed is for you to decide after judging the road/your bikes condition, riding gear and speed limits set by our Law and whatever you might find worth considering
The Apache is ever willing to red line each cog, but the Rider ain't. Enjoy RTR, Safely. Period.

Afaik no. Old won't fit. But why??? You could get one made from the fake carbon fibre material.

                    • Hi Guys,

I am planning to buy a new bike early next year and I have couple of options as of now.
Apache RTR 180(ABS) and Pulsar 200 NS, I have ridden both the bikes(for just few minutes) and I am confused about the choice.
I am 5'8" and 90Kgs, would mostly use it about 40-60km daily and weekend drive of about 200kms.
I loved the ABS on RTR, the braking is so much better, however the only drawbacks(my opinion) are
                      1) No MonoShocks
                      2) Comfort( as the riding postion is like leaning forward)
                      3) Maintenance( Not sure how easy/diff it is to maintain a RTR)
                      4) Vibrations(Vibes in the new RTR 2012 series ?)
                      5) Tyres.

So, I would like your feedback before I can make a decision.

Note : The above are my opinions/concerns, don't intend to offend any one.

                      • Changed clutch plates, pressure plates, head gasket, tappets adjusted, oil changed (GULF), oil filter changed - Total cost 1320INR....odo reading 32545kms. Seems 2013 Ladakh trip will be my White Devil's last.

                        1) No MonoShocks : There is no guarantee that "only" monoshocks will be comfy.
                        2) Comfort( as the riding postion is like leaning forward) : Its not a crouching position which is more painful.
                        3) Maintenance( Not sure how easy/diff it is to maintain a RTR) : For me all these two years, it was easy to maintain
                        4) Vibrations(Vibes in the new RTR 2012 series ?) : Honestly the vibes have been hyped too much, but its more noticeable in 5k - 7k rpm mark, that too sometimes. Try getting little heavy bar-end weights and it will decrease it little bit.
                        5) Tyres - They are good tyres minus when wet, but they will go long........very long.

Even I'd like to know that. Done 17.5k km and I'm beginning to feel that the clutch plates need to be changed..
And also tappets.. do they do that at every service? I really hate the noise and the lost performance..

I have a query or issue to discuss here. Hope you guys can help.

I own a TVS Apache RTR 180 ABS which I bought last month. Received the delivery on 31st October. The first servicing is done.
Whenever I ride the bike, there is some krr sound from the front. It comes when the bike vibrates, and sounds like some part is loose. I took the bike to the service center and they said it is the fairing and suggested that they tightened it. However, the sound is still there I am new to Apache, so I am wondering if the sound should be there? If not, what can be the possible reason? I have been hearing this sound since the first week.

Also, another question I have is that when I ride above 60kmph, the moment I release the accelerator or reduce the acceleration to reduce the speed, there is a kach sound at the bottom, which is more like the sound that comes when the bike goes through a pot hole. I informed the service center about this too but just like any service center, they did not fix the problem.
                                Somebody help me! Please.
                                - Mansha
